Editorial/Reporter Internships: Apply now for Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer Semesters

SHOOT Magazine / SHOOTonline is looking to hire creative, smart, articulate, confident, big thinking, entrepreneurial editorial interns for the 2011/12 school year! This internship will provide students with invaluable hands-on work experience. We are seeking two college journalism students to intern in our office on the Raleigh Studios lot in Hollywood and our office in Westport, CT for each semester. If you can thrive in an environment where multitasking is a must, are responsible, proactive, motivated, eager to learn and looking to make a meaningful contribution toward a journalism/writing/editorial career.  And, have a passion for news and its role in social media and networking we want you.The ideal candidate is majoring in journalism, magazine or newspaper publishing, English, writing or communications. Previous experience at a newspaper, magazine or online news organization is a plus. Strong understanding of social sharing communities including facebook, Twitter, etc; excellent computer skills, basic understanding of HTML and InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop is a plus. Schedule will consist of 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate other commitments. Aside from reporting, much of the work can be done from apt/dorm so it will not be mandatory to work in one of our offices all the time.

Editorial Intern Responsibilities will include some or all of the following..

> Assist editor and editorial director with articles, editorial surveys and projects, related administrative tasks, fact checking, obtaining information for articles such as chasing down missing credits for commercials, videos and other content, proofreading, posting photos and video with articles.  Add links to posted articles.

> Per guidelines provided, search for and post relevant AP breaking news to SHOOTonline articles database with links, photos

> Help utilize press releases for articles by follow up to obtain additional details and fact check. Edit, rewrite and post as article in SHOOTonline articles database for use on SHOOTonline and in The SHOOT>e.dition and/or post/write copy in our "In Copy" system for use in print issue.

> Compile weekly News Briefs for SHOOTonline & The SHOOT>e.dition

> Format copy from current SHOOT Magazine issues to corresponding website

> Assist in the assembly of email newsletters

> Help engage and attract visitors by assisting with SHOOT profiles on variety of social media platforms

> Based on handling of above responsibilities and schedule of other duties in a given week the goal will be to report on/write at least one full-length feature and/or select shorter stories article per week.
