Simian, a leading provider of web-based media management tools for creative companies in advertising, film, television, music and interactive media , has hired Jim Baltutis as Director of Sales and Marketing. Baltutis, who will be based in Southern California, brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and public relations to his new role, including 16 years as Vice President of Media Relations for Warner Bros. Records.
At Simian, Baltutis will seek to develop new business for the company while developing strategic marketing platforms for future growth by broadening the company's reach into new markets while strengthening its position in its core markets.
"We are excited to have Jim on our team," said Simian co-founder Brian Atton. "Jim was a user of our product and became so enamored of it that he reached out to us about joining the company. He brings enthusiasm and new ideas that, we believe, will make an immediate impact on our company and our clients."
"It's unusual to recruit someone solely based on his passion for a product," adds Simian co-founder Jay Brooks. "That, coupled with Jim's marketing and sales expertise, makes a powerful combination for our future. I am excited about the direction we're taking, knowing that Jim will be focused on growth and expanding our reach, while Brian and I continue to develop our product to better serve our clients."
At Warner Bros. Records, Baltutis managed media campaigns for recording artists on the Warner, Reprise and SIRE labels including Barenaked Ladies, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Linkin Park, MUSE and more. He also introduced the now standard practice of digital watermarking to the label, and was instrumental in digitization of the marketing and publicity archive for future monetization. More recently, he headed an independent marketing firm, Concepts In Concert, which provides media, marketing and merchandise and fanclub services to recording artists and consumer brands.
