    NEW YORK --

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) has unveiled the nominees for the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Among those advertising industry companies recognized this year are Code and Theory, Condé Nast, Duolingo, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Jung von Matt AG, Mattel, McCann, Meta, Publicis Media GmbH, R/GA, Saatchi & Saatchi, Snapchat, Squarespace, TBWA Media Arts Lab, and The Kitchen North America.

All nominees are eligible to win two of the Internet industry’s leading honors: The Webby Award, selected by the Academy, and The Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by the online community. Voting for The Webby People’s Voice Awards is open now through Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:59pm PDT.

The contenders for this year’s coveted Agency of the Year are companies with the highest number of Webby Award nominations across all categories. Leading the nominees are BASIC/DEPT® (15), Jung von Matt AG (13), DEPT® (12), and TBWA Media Arts Lab (10).

Alongside Agency of the Year, this year’s Webbys will also recognize Production Company of the Year. Companies currently in the running include: Media.Monks (7), Church Edit (6), Mss ng Peces (5), O Positive (4), Tool (4), and Modern Post (3).

“This year, we have seen a transformation in how brands are using technology to build and communicate with their audiences,” said Claire Graves, president of The Webby Awards. “We’re witnessing a shift from experimenting with AI technology to meaningful use cases to improve production, and personalize experiences. Additionally there has been an expansion of creativity in B2B marketing, and a deeper commitment by brands and creators to human-centric storytelling. It is an honor to continue celebrating the teams behind the innovative work that continues to change culture and our digital landscape.”

As Artificial Intelligence continues to alter how we connect with those around us, consume entertainment, and learn about the world, brands and agencies are utilizing these new technologies with innovative projects like Fenty Beauty + Skin Experience (Sawhorse Productions), Gucci Cosmos Land in the Sandbox (Gucci), Whitney Museum of American Art–Inaugural Immersive Art Experience (Design Bridge and Partners) and NASA’s Immersive Earth (NASA).

Brands continued to capitalize on the world’s biggest names to drive creative partnerships, tapping into larger audiences and cementing themselves in the cultural conversation. Stand out collaborations include: Vote.org + Taylor Swift on National Voter Registration Day (Vote.org), The Cheesecake Factory x Travis Kelce: Fashion Icons (EssenceMediacom), Ford x Sydney Sweeney (Wieden + Kennedy),  Sphere x F1 LVGP (Sphere), The Walking Dead x Visit Seattle (PB&), Snoop Dogg x Solo Stove: Snoop Goes Smokeless (The Martin Agency), Amaury Guichon’s Whimsical Wonka Suitcase (Warner Bros. Pictures), and WeTransfer and Jungle’s Collaboration on the “Back On 74” Music Video (WeTransfer).

Webby nominees are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Members include: Samira Ansari, chief creative officer, Ogilvy New York; Rosie Bardales, chief creative officer, VML; Oriel Davis-Lyons, chief creative officer, Mother New York; Monique Francis, head of marketing, Hoorae; Pancho González, chief creative officer, Inbrax; Jim Habig, VP marketing, LinkedIn; Emma Harman, global chief client officer, Whalar; Todd Kaplan, chief marketing officer, Pepsi Co; Craig Minassian, chief communications & marketing officer, Clinton Foundation; Ashley Murphy, VP global consumer marketing, Rare Beauty; Jaime Robinson, co-founder & chief creative officer, Joan Creative; Shannon Washington, global chief creative officer of Gotham, McCann Worldgroup; and Julia White, chief marketing & solutions officer, SAP.

Creative agencies are also entertaining, educating and inspiring the industry in new ways with nominated podcasts in the Creativity & Marketing category, which include: Design Better (The Curiosity Department), Icons in the Making (Lippincott), Riveted (Godfrey Dadich Partners), Soul & Science Podcast (Mekanism) and Unleash Your Inner Creative with Lauren LoGrasso (Lauren LoGrasso Productions LLC).

Network of the Year will also be presented at this year’s Webby Awards. The following networks that earned more Webby Awards nominations across all categories are in contention: DEPT® (27), Stagwell (23), TBWA Worldwide (19), Accenture (17) and Wieden+Kennedy (17).

With nearly 13,000 entries from over 70 countries around the world and a record number of Social Media submissions, this year’s competition was extremely competitive. From the tens of thousands of global entries submitted, fewer than 12% were selected as nominees.

Winners for The 28th Annual Webby Awards will be announced on Tuesday, April 23, and will be celebrated at a star-studded in-person award show on Monday, May 13, hosted by Amber Ruffin at Cipriani Wall Street.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis’ Murder Trial Heads To Closing In Tupac Shakur’s 1996 Killing

    Friday, August 28, 2026

The murder trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis in the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur is headed to closing arguments after the defense rested Thursday following testimony from three former Las Vegas police officers.

Jurors are scheduled to return Monday for closing arguments before beginning deliberations in the only prosecution brought in the killing of the hip-hop icon. The presentation of evidence ended after nine days of testimony.

Davis, 63, did not take the stand.

Shakur was riding in a BMW on Sept. 7, 1996, when a white Cadillac pulled up next to it at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip and gunfire erupted. Shakur was shot multiple times and died six days later. The driver of the BMW, Marion "Suge" Knight, survived.

Years later, Davis would say he procured the gun and his nephew, who has since died, fired the shots. Prosecutors say Davis orchestrated the killing, and he faces life in prison if convicted of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. He has pleaded not guilty.

Defense attorney Michael Sanft has argued that Davis fabricated or embellished his accounts of the killing for money and notoriety and that investigators failed to independently corroborate his claims.

Retired Las Vegas homicide detective Dan Long, the defense's final witness, testified that he tried unsuccessfully to verify several details Davis provided during a 2009 police interview.

Davis told Long that his nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, had gone to a Las Vegas hospital after being beaten by Shakur and others in a casino brawl hours before the rapper was fatally shot. Long said he was unable to find hospital records confirming Anderson was treated there.

    Long also tried... Read More
