    Advertising, Media & PR Winners Unveiled For 28th Annual Webby Awards

    Goodby Silverstein & Partners created "Driving While Black" ("DWB") for Courageous Conversations. DWB is a car fully equipped to survive racial profiling by the police. The work won the Webby Award for Social Video (Advertising, Media & PR), Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (Social and Websites and Mobile Sites)

    DEPT wins Agency and Network of the Year; Media.Monks named Production Company of the Year

    The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) has revealed the winners for the 28th Annual Webby Awards, with DEPT® taking home the top honors for Webby Agency and Network of the Year. With 11 Wins and 3 Nominations, including projects like Bang & Olufsen – See Yourself In Sound, Virgin Galactic, Give a Hand and Trainline, the company earned more Webby Awards across all categories than any other agency this year.

    The Academy also announced DEPT® (21 Wins, 10 Nominations) as this year’s Webby Network of the Year, with the most pieces celebrated across all Webby categories. DEPT® agencies, including BASIC/DEPT® and DEPT®, received more Webby wins, nominations and honorees than all other networks.

    BASIC/DEPT® (8 wins, 7 nominations), TBWA\Media Arts Lab (8 wins, 3 nominations) and Jung von Matt AG (5 wins, 9 nominations) were all in close contention for Webby Agency of the Year. BASIC/DEPT®’s recognized work includes Gucci Ancora Fashion Show 2024, Jeff Koons: Moon Phases, Google Store and Daniel’s Music Foundation. TBWA\Media Arts Lab’s recognized work includes “Call Me” with Timothee Chalamet, iPhone + Apple Watch | Another Birthday and Huracán Ramírez vs. La Piñata Enchilada. Jung von Matt AG’s recognized work includes FIFA World in Roblox, RESISTRUMENTS and myclimate Carbon Tracker.

    TBWA Worldwide (10 wins, 10 nominations), Accenture (10 wins, 8 nominations) and Stagwell (6 wins, 18 nominations) were in close contention for Webby Network of the Year. TBWA Worldwide’s recognized work includes “Call Me” with Timothee Chalamet, iPhone + Apple Watch | Another Birthday, Huracán Ramírez vs. La Piñata Enchilada, McDonald’s Family Mode, and Powerfully Peaceful (Lofi). Accenture’s recognized work includes The First Digital Nation, Play It Safe, The Impossible Bedtime Story, Lufthansa Pride Campaign 2023: “The World Says Yes to You”, Charley, The Greatest Story Ever Worn and Stranger Things 4 – The season finale. Stagwell’s recognized projects included Anti-Choice Ads, YETI: Map The Gaps, Doppelganger, PRophet Influence: Koalifyed and Cosmetic Criminals – e.l.f. Cosmetics & Movers+Shakers.

    Alongside Agency and Network, this year’s Webbys also recognize Media.Monks as Production Company of the Year, with 4 wins and 3 nominations. This is the third year in a row that Media.Monks has received the accolade. Modern Post (4 wins, 1 honoree), Tool (2 wins, 4 nominations) and Church Edit (1 win, 5 nominations) were in close contention for Production Company of the Year. Modern Post’s recognized work includes Olivia Rodrigo “Vampire,” H&M “Mugler Henrick" and Vogue “Hello You.” Tool’s recognized work includes Coachella Immersive Experience, Sewer Delivery and Coke AI Studio.     Amber Ruffin (Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Amber Ruffin Show) will host the star-studded Webby Awards ceremony, which takes place at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday, May 13.

    Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle Reflect On The Life-Changing Film “Trainspotting”

    Ewan McGregor, for a fleeting moment after "Trainspotting" came out, felt like a rock star. It wasn't his first significant project; it wasn't even his first film with director Danny Boyle. And he was, in his words, fairly arrogant and cocksure at the time. But that kinetic film about four heroin addicts in late-1980s Scotland was and, 30 years later, remains defining — in his career, in the culture and in his understanding of what true artistic satisfaction can feel like. "It's very much in that early part of my career, and of course, even today, probably the most important piece of work that I was involved in, just because it had such a massive effect on my life. Not only because of what it did, but because of how it felt to make," McGregor told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "It set the bar unknowingly high because it's been quite hard to match ever since." Both McGregor and Boyle are a little wistful about the time, and what they made, as the film marks its 30th anniversary re-release. A 4K digital restoration started in theaters nationwide on Friday (6/5). Though "Trainspotting" was very much of its moment with its Britpop soundtrack, its Thatcher-era grit, its darkly comedic tone and shrewd blend of giddy highs and tragic lows, it's also one that has stood the unforgiving test of time. "You get kids coming up to you who are 17 who said they'd just seen it," Boyle said. "I could be their grandfather … yet it still spoke to them."
