    American Society of Cinematographers Unveils Nominees Across Features, Documentaries, TV and Music Videos

    "One Battle After Another," "Frankenstein," "Sinners," "Marty Supreme" and "Train Dreams" earn nods in the award competition's marquee theatrical film category

    LOS ANGELES --

    The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has unveiled the nominees for its 2026 Outstanding Achievement Awards, recognizing excellence across feature films, documentaries, television, and music videos. Nominated in the marquee feature film category are: Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC for “Sinners”; Michael Bauman for “One Battle After Another”; Darius Khondji, ASC, AFC for “Marty Supreme”; Dan Laustsen, ASC, DFF for “Frankenstein”; and Adolpho Veloso, ABC, AIP for “Train Dreams.”

    Bauman earned the distinction of also being nominated in the Limited or Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category on the strength of his work on the “Buxum Bird” episode of “Monster: The Ed Gein Story.” Other nominees in that category are: Sam Chiplin for “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” (“Episode One”); Pete Konczal, ASC for “Black Rabbit” (“Isle of Joy”); Matthew Lewis for “Adolescence” (“Episode Two”); and Igor Martinović for “Black Rabbit” (“Attaf**kinboy”).

    Additionally on the feature front, the ASC’s Spotlight category–which recognizes outstanding cinematography in feature-length fare that is screened at festivals, internationally or in limited theatrical release–has three nominees: Steven Breckon for The Plague; Mátyás Erdély, ASC, HSC for “Orphan”; and Karl Walter Lindenlaub, ASC, BVK for “Amrum”

    Bauman isn’t the only two-time ASC Award nominee this year. Also garnering a pair of nods–both in the music video category–is Jon Joffin, ASC for “False Prophet” (performed by Pillars of a Twisted City) and “Visiting Hours” (performed by Jon Bryant).

    Winners will be celebrated at the 40th Annual ASC Awards on March 8, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

    “Sentimental Value” Tops The European Film Awards With 6 Wins, Including Best Picture and Director

    Sentimental Value was the big winner at the 38th European Film Awards on Saturday evening (1/17) in Berlin. The feature took home six awards from the European Film Academy--best European film, best director for Joachim Trier, best screenwriter for Trier and Eskil Vogt, best actress for Renate Reinsve, best actor for Stellan Skarsgard, and best original score for composer Hania Rani. Also enjoying a highlight evening was director and co-writer Oliver Laxe’s Sirat which dominated the crafts categories with five awards--for best cinematographer (Mauro Herce), editor (Cristobal Fernandez), production designer (Laia Ateca), sound designer (Laia Casanovas), and casting director (Nadia Acimi, Luis Bertolo, Maria Rodrigo).
