The Guild of Music Supervisors has revealed the nominees for its 12th annual award ceremony, celebrating outstanding achievement in the craft of music supervision in film, television, games, documentaries, advertising, and trailers.
This year’s motion picture nominees include Being the Ricardos, Encanto, The Harder They Fall, The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Passing, among others, while television categories include acclaimed series like The Crown, Lovecraft Country, The White Lotus, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Best Music Supervision for Documentary nominations include Rebel Hearts, The Sparks Brothers, Amend: The Fight For America, and 1971: The Year Music Changed Everything. In the video game category, Battlefield 2042, FIFA 22, and Far Cry 6 were highlighted as nominees. Apple, Nike, Meta are among the nominees in the advertising category.
Songwriters, artists and music supervisors together will be recognized for the Best Song Written And/Or Recorded For Film category. This year’s nominees include “Guns Go Bang” from The Harder They Fall performed by Kid Cudi & Jay-Z, “My Father’s Daughter” from Flag Day performed by Eddie Vedder, Glen Hansard, and Olivia Vedder, “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto performed by Sebastián Yatra, “Fire In The Sky” from Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings performed by Anderson .Paak, and “Be Alive” from King Richard performed by Beyoncé. The Best Song Written and/or Recorded for Television category includes “Look At Us” from Homeroom performed by Goapele (feat. Diane Warren will receive the organization’s prestigious Icon Award, and Mitchell Leib will receive the Legacy Award honoring those music supervisors who have excelled within the craft of music supervision. The 12th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards will take place virtually on Sunday, March 20.

Full Lineup Set For AFI Fest; Official Selections Span 44 Countries, Include 9 Best International Feature Oscar Submissions
The American Film Institute (AFI) has unveiled the full lineup for this year’s AFI Fest, taking place in Los Angeles from October 23-27. Rounding out the slate of already announced titles are such highlights as September 5 directed by Tim Fehlbaum, All We Imagine As Light directed by Payal Kapadia, The Luckiest Man in America directed by Samir Oliveros (AFI Class of 2019), Zurawski v. Texas from executive producers Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Jennifer Lawrence and directors Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault, and Oh, Canada directed by Paul Schrader (AFI Class of 1969). A total of 158 films are set to screen at the 38th edition of AFI Fest.
Of the official selections, 48% are directed by women and non-binary filmmakers and 26% are directed by BIPOC filmmakers.
