    Camila Cornelsen
    LOS ANGELES --

Production studio afterhrs. has added director Camila Cornelsen to its talent roster. A Brazilian raised, L.A.-based director/cinematographer and photographer, Cornelsen has a body of work spanning such brands as Nike, Apple, Vogue, Google, Instagram and Facebook.  She’s also been involved extensively as a filmmaker in music videos and entertainment.

“Rooting forward-thinking and experimental work in a strong background in music, photography, and the fine arts, Camila typifies the kind of artist and director we look to champion here at the studio,” said Thelonious Brooks, afterhrs. co-founder and EP.

Company co-founder Kai Regan said of Cornelsen, “She understands the power in the relationship between form and medium and pushes those boundaries with spectacular results. We are thrilled to be the driver for Camila to flourish as a distinct voice in advertising, cinema and entertainment.”

Cornelsen grew up immersed in the influences of her photographer father and producer mother. She studied engineering, but ultimately her love of dance and music were the gateway into a world where beauty and story unite. In addition to performing in a band and hosting a radio show, Cornelsen started her career working in fashion photography and portraiture. Increasingly finding herself drawn to motion and the opportunity to unite her passions, she embraced cinematography. In the last nine years, Cornelsen has lensed three feature films, an HBO and a Disney series, along with dozens of commercials, music videos, and short documentaries. As a keen observer who easily connects with people, Cornelsen stepped into directing six years ago, and her work caught the eye of international brands and agencies including Netflix, Puma, Google, Weiden+Kennedy, JWT, Saatchi & Saatchi, and RGA. Hers is a realm where human stories, retro and modern styling, thrumming beats and electric imagery harmonize.

She is currently collaborating with Tim Bernardes on a live performance film. Additionally, she’s developing her first feature with Brooks and afterhrs., whose past feature credits include Jim Hosking’s breakthrough Sundance cult classic Greasy Strangler, Venice International Film Fest premiere Are We Not Cats, and Sundance indie series selection These Days.

Cornelsen describes that she was drawn to the energy of afterhrs. because, “They have created an environment where art and content can thrive; Where there is a real expression of diversity and a community that is driven to explore. I am really excited about what we will do together.”

Prior to afterhrs., Cornelsen was repped in the U.S. by Stept. In addition to her U.S. representation via afterhrs., Cornelsen is handled in Brazil by Tropical Films, in UAE by Big Kauna Films, and the U.K./rest of the world by Nick Small at JSA.
