Production house Eleanor has added director Hannah Berry George to its U.S. roster. This marks her first commercial representation in the American market.
Sophie Gold, president of Eleanor, said, ”What immediately stood out was Hannah’s fearlessness. She’s deeply comfortable in comedy, including darker and more absurd territory, but what truly sets her apart is how deliberately she uses it to drive the story. Her visual sensibility gives her the confidence to take real risks without losing clarity or control. Hannah is dangerous in the best way, and that combination of boldness and discipline is exactly what we look for at Eleanor.”
Comedy is part of the fabric of who George is, which is why her work stands out for several reasons–the heightened and colorful worlds, a deep love of performance and personality, and her knack for grounding the strange in recognizable human behavior.
Perhaps this is, in part, thanks to her varied and vast background before coming into the industry–law, magazine publishing, copywriting, and creative direction, with acting and comedy woven throughout; she brings a wealth of experience that is rare and informed.
Before joining Eleanor, George developed her voice across commercial, branded, and narrative work, earning a reputation for making intentional comedy, often with a surreal or absurd edge. Her recent campaign for Listerine, starring Cynthia Erivo, packs a punch and was one of the brand’s most successful to date, leaning into theatricality and performance to create a distinctive visual language that framed a mouthwash commercial with a totally fresh lens.
Joining forces with Eleanor marks a significant step for George as she expands stateside. “There’s space for play in the U.S. market that genuinely excites me,” George said. “Strategy and intention go a long way and Eleanor feels like the right partner to build something ambitious and lasting.”
George has extensive experience working with high-profile talent and brings a sharp sensitivity to performance and tone across both scripted and unscripted work. Alongside her commercial work for brands such as LinkedIn, the British Army, the Booker Prize, JD Williams, and Google Pixel, she originated and directed Herstory, the first-ever docuseries commissioned by MBC for Shahid, the Middle East’s largest streaming platform.
