PRETTYBIRD has added director Nono Ayuso to its U.S. and U.K. rosters. This marks his first commercial representation as a solo director.
Ayuso’s journey into filmmaking was anything but ordinary. Born in a small town in Andalusia, Spain, and now based in London, he has traversed the world as an investigative journalist, covering conflict zones, an experience that has shaped his deeply human approach to storytelling. He made the transition from journalist and university teacher to a director whose continuing desire for international experiences remains incredibly important to his creativity; his pursuit of stories has taken him across England, China, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Lebanon, Israel, Chile, and Kenya.
He has worked with Meta, Rayban, British Airways, Lufthansa and Lexus, and earned recognition from Clios, ADC, The One Show, British Arrows, UKMVA, Cannes YDA, 1.4, several Vimeo Staff Picks, and more. His work has been featured internationally in global publications and industry trades, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Nowness, David Reviews, Booooom TV, Director’s Library, Director’s Notes, and many more.
Ayuso’s prior commercial representation came as half of the directorial duo Nono + Rodrigo (with Rodrigo Inada) which had most recently been handled by production houses Partizan in the U.S. and Iconoclast in the U.K.
Emily Rudge, managing director, PRETTYBIRD UK (PBUK), said of Ayuso, “He has a great talent to embed the human experience into everything he touches, and he is not confined by genre. Having long been an admirer of his work, we are excited to see what work we can develop together!”
Candice Dragonas, VP, talent strategy/executive producer at PRETTYBIRD US (PBUS), related, “We were immediately drawn to Nono’s honest, cinematic approach to storytelling and the deep humanity that runs through his work. He’s a filmmaker shaped by lived experience, and that perspective brings something truly special. We’re excited to champion his voice and help amplify his work globally.”
Ayuso shared, “It’s a real honor to join PRETTYBIRD’s roster. PRETTYBIRD represents an incredible level of talent, and the people behind the company are as inspiring as the work itself. I’m very excited for what’s ahead.”
