Duck (formerly Duck Soup Studios), a Los Angeles-based multimedia studio spanning such disciplines as 2D and 3D animation, live action, integration, character and film title design, digital compositing and digital/traditional ink and paint, has fortified its design division by bringing San Francisco-based agency:collective aboard its roster.
Duck will handle sales/marketing for the agency:collective studio and its marquee talent, company founders/directors Michael Jakab and Elisabeth Prescott, whose portfolio includes design work for PBS, Nickelodeon, Gap, Nike and Clear Channel.
Prescott has designed film titles for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, Glass House, Band of Brothers, Mummy 2, Punisher, and Harry Potter, among others. Also tapping into her design prowess have been such clients as Vitra, Qualcomm, THX and Apple Computers. Prescott’s work has been featured in a variety of design trade publications, including Tokion, IDEA, Print, Communication Arts, and has received numerous honors, including awards from the Type Directors Club and the Art Director’s Club. She is currently an adjunct professor at the California College of Arts, where she teaches graphic design.
Jakab’s specialty is entertaining narrative, design and technology. His work has been featured in Studio Voice, Tokion, Communication Arts, Shift, Print, and RES. Prior to agency:collective, Jakab worked around the world, assisting in the redesign of the MoMA’s paperless lobby; collaborating in Tokyo with Wieden + Kennedy on various projects; directing the 2008 Livescribe Pulse Smartpen Campaign; traveling to Helsinki on a Fulbright grant; serving as a design consultant for James Hughes’ New Port South; working on several feature films with Imaginary Forces; contributing to Fabrica, Benneton’s think tank for design and communication in Treviso, Italy; and helping with MTV Networks’ redesign of VH1.
Jakab said that he and Prescott “felt that we would benefit from joining an organization that could help make creative connections and open doors to more opportunities. Duck offered just the sort of connections, experience and creative talent that we were seeking to align ourselves with, so the decision pretty much made itself once we started talking.”
