    LOS ANGELES --

The sound mixing team on F1 topped the live-action motion picture category at the 62nd Annual Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards on Saturday night (3/7) at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom. The evening honored excellence in sound mixing across motion pictures, television, and non-fiction programming, with industry leaders and acclaimed filmmakers gathering to celebrate the art and craft of sound.

KPop Demon Hunters won the animated motion picture competition while Becoming Led Zeppelin took the feature documentary honor.

Television winners included The Pitt, The Studio and Adolescence.

Hosted by comedian, actor, writer and producer Chris Hardwick, the ceremony recognized outstanding achievements across seven competitive categories, along with the presentation of three special honors: the CAS Career Achievement Award, the CAS Filmmaker Award, and the inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology.

The CAS Career Achievement Award was presented by Benny Safdie to Academy Award®–winning re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay CAS (Gravity, No Country for Old Men, Roma). Academy Award®–winning director Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein, The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth) was honored with the CAS Filmmaker Award, presented by Jon Favreau and Scott Gershin. Presenters throughout the evening included Jaimie Alexander, Eric André, Doug Jones, Kevin Nealon, Tig Notaro, Ron Perlman, Karolina Wydra, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

As previously announced, the Cinema Audio Society also presented the inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology, honoring transformative achievements in non-linear technology for sound recording, editing, and mixing. Recipients of the 2026 Jeffrey S. Wexler Award are Evan Brooks, Peter Gotcher, Glenn Sanders, and Howard Stark. The award is named in honor of the late Wexler, the revered production mixer, educator, and industry leader whose career spanned more than four decades and more than 70 feature films.

“Tonight we celebrate the very best of our profession,” said CAS president Peter Kurland. “Sound mixing demands both technical skill and artistic intent, and these honorees exemplify the precision, creativity, and discipline that define our craft. Earth, Wind & Fire Documentary To Open 25th Tribeca Festival

    Tuesday, April 14, 2026

The Tribeca Festival, has unveiled its opening night selection for the 25th anniversary edition, marking the first programming reveal for this milestone year. True to its long-standing commitment to music storytelling and live experiences--and championing artists who shape culture--the Tribeca fest will open with the world premiere of the HBO Original Documentary Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World), directed by Academy Award®- and GRAMMY Award®-winning filmmaker Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. The screening will be followed by a live performance by nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning icons Earth, Wind & Fire and three-time GRAMMY Award-winning group The Roots at the Beacon Theatre on June 3.

“Opening night is always a magical moment! This year, as we celebrate 25 years of the Festival, it is especially meaningful,” said Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Festival co-founder and co-chair. “Tribeca was born in the wake of 9/11 with a belief: that storytellers have the power to bring communities together. For 25 years, we’ve seen artists, filmmakers, musicians, and audiences come together in New York City in ways that are inspiring, surprising, and deeply human. We are humbled by what’s been achieved and excited for the stories yet to come.”

Over the past two decades, Tribeca has become a home for music-driven storytelling and live performance, bringing artists and audiences together in ways that extend beyond the screen. From early community concerts in Lower Manhattan to premiere events that pair films with live performances and conversations, music has been part of the Festival’s DNA since its founding. In this milestone 25th year, that legacy comes full circle, as Earth, Wind & Fire returns... Read More
