    HPA Award Nominees Include Artists Behind “Gravity,” “12 Years a Slave”

    Nominations circle graced by post talent spanning features, TV, commercials

    LOS ANGELES --

    The Hollywood Post Alliance has announced its nominees for the 2014 HPA Awards, the 9th annual unveiling of these honors. Among the projects receiving multiple nominations were the features “Gravity” and “12 Years a Slave,” TV series "Game of Thrones" (HBO) and "House of Cards" (Netflix), and the GE commercial “Childlike Imagination.”

    The HPA Awards honor excellence in postproduction while bringing recognition to the creative achievements of individuals and companies as well as creative excellence and groundbreaking technologies within the post industry.

    The nominees in the 12 craft categories were chosen from a field of talented and innovative entries in color grading, editing, sound and visual effects for motion pictures, commercials and television. Judging was completed by panels of category peers and other experts.

    The winners of the 2014 HPA Awards will be announced during a gala evening, November 6, at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

    “Sinners” The Big Winner As Selections Are Revealed For African American Film Critics’ 17th Annual Awards

    The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) has unveiled the winners of its 17th annual AAFCA Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to cinema, along with its selections for the top 10 films of the year. All the honorees will be celebrated at the 17th Annual AAFCA Awards on February 8 at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills. Sinners was the big winner, taking first place in the AAFCA’s ranking of the top 10 films of the year. On the strength of Sinners, Ryan Coogler also won for best director and best writing while Michael B. Jordan was named best actor, Wunmi Mosaku earned best supporting actress distinction, Miles Caton was recognized as the best emerging actor, the overall cast was voted best ensemble, and composer Ludwig Göransson topped the best music category. Tessa Thompson won the best actress honor for her performance in Hedda, which was named best independent feature. Damson Idris was named best supporting actor for his work in F1. KPop Demon Hunters was named best animated feature.
