    LOS ANGELES --

The International Cinematographer’s Guild, IATSE Local 600, announced that its national president, Lewis Rothenberg, will step down from his position, effective end of business today, February 14.

Dejan Georgevich, ASC, who currently serves as VP of Local 600, will assume the role of interim national president until the Local’s national executive board convenes to elect a successor. The election must take place within 30 days of the resignation date, as dictated by the Guild’s Constitution and Bylaws.

Local 600 issued the following statement: “Local 600 National executive officers regret the resignation of president Lewis Rothenberg, and we would like to express our appreciation for his leadership and service. We wish the best for him and his family. The executive leadership team reaffirms our commitment to working together in the best interests of our membership as we go through this transition of leadership.”

National executive director Rebecca Rhine stated, “I want to assure our members that all systems are in place to ensure a smooth transition. On behalf of myself and our staff, we thank president Rothenberg for his strong support of our work during his tenure. His commitment to members and the Local was longstanding and unwavering.”

President Rothenberg took office in June of 2019.  His resignation comes approximately eight months into his three-year term.

The Cinema Audio Society has unveiled its nominees in seven categories for the 62nd Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing, honoring work released in 2025. Among the feature films in the running are F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, One Battle After Another and Sinners. One-hour TV series nominees are Andor, Pluribus, Severance, Stranger Things and The Pitt. The 62nd CAS Awards will be held on Saturday, March 7, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. In addition, visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth, Frankenstein) will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award. The CAS Award nominees highlight the outstanding contributions of sound mixers, recognizing excellence in the specialized craft of sound mixing for both motion pictures and television.
