    Marcel Paris, Orange Win Best of Show At The One Show For “WoMen’s Football”

    "Women's Football" for Orange by Marcel Paris

    FCB New York named Agency of the Year; AB InBev takes Client of the Year; HELO earns Production Company of the Year distinction

    NEW YORK --

    Marcel Paris capped off Creative Week in fine style, with work earning Best of Show distinction and a pair of Best of Discipline wins at The One Show 2024. The awards show will be held this evening (5/17) at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. 

    Best of Show went to “WoMen’s Football” for Orange by Marcel Paris, working with Les Artisans du Film Paris and Prodigious Paris.  The work also had Best of Discipline wins in two categories: Film & Video; and Interactive, Online & Mobile. Overall, the entry was awarded 10 Gold Pencils, three Silver, three Bronze, and six Merits.  

    Best of Non-Profit went to “Banned Book Club” by FCB Chicago with 456 Studios Chicago on behalf of Digital Public Library of America.

    Top honorees in The One Show 2024, based upon cumulative scores for all awards won across all disciplines, are as follows:

    Special Awards
    There were two winners of The One Show 2024 Penta Pencil, awarded to the agency and brand who together have created outstanding creative work for the last five years: McCann and Microsoft, and Rethink and Kraft Heinz Toronto.

     

    A pair of entries received The One Show 2024 Fusion Pencil, the industry’s first global award to recognize great work that best incorporates DEI principles and underrepresented groups in both the creative content of the work and the team that made it: 

    • Area 23 New York “Everything They Didn’t Tell You” for Black Women for Wellness LA
    • FCB Chicago with 456 Studios Chicago for “Banned Book Club” on behalf of Digital Public Library of America.

     

    The One Show 2024 Green Pencils, recognizing the most environmentally conscious creative work for the year, were awarded to:

    • M&C Saatchi Sydney with Collider Studio Sydney “The Plastic Forecast” for Minderoo Foundation
    • VML Colombia Bogotá with Grey Colombia Bogotá “Life Extending Stickers” for Marko Colombia.

     

    The One Show 2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Pencil, created in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and nonprofit PVBLIC Foundation to reward agencies and brands for work that betters the world and contributes to securing a sustainable future for all, went to:

    • McCann Poland Warsaw with McCann New York “Where To Settle” for Mastercard
    • Publicis Conseil Paris “Prêt à Voter” for Solar Impulse
    • VML Colombia Bogotá with Grey Colombia Bogotá “Life Extending Stickers” for Marko Colombia.
       

    The One Show 2024 Pencil and Merit winners were announced yesterday.  FCB New York led the world in Gold Pencils with 14, including 13 with 456 Studios New York for “Dreamcaster” on behalf of AB InBev, Michelob ULTRA.

    A total of 20,038 pieces from 65 countries were entered in The One Show 2024.  Agencies, studios, brands, production companies and designers in 50 countries were awarded 184 Gold Pencils, 206 Silver, 280 Bronze, and 1,120 Merits.

    The final season of "Outer Banks" and a new album from Anthony Hopkins (yes, Sir Anthony Hopkins) are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you.

    Also among the streaming offerings worth your time this week, as selected by The Associated Press' entertainment journalists: Weezer's 20th album, the survival horror game "The Sinking City 2" and "Mother Mary," which kicked off Anne Hathaway's incredibly prolific year in theaters.

    New movies to stream from Aug. 17-23
    — Anne Hathaway's epic year at the movies (which is still going at full throttle with "The End of Oak Street" and the upcoming "Verity") didn't start with "The Devil Wears Prada 2" or "The Odyssey," but with "Mother Mary," David Lowery's experimental film about a pop star (Hathaway) and her estranged designer (Michaela Coel). In his review for the AP, Film Writer Jake Coyle called it "a fitfully spellbinding chamber drama that grows more operatic with every stitch," adding that "Hathaway makes not just a believable pop star but an indelible portrait of an artist's ego in extremes." But, Coyle wrote, "the movie belongs to Coel … 'Mother Mary' is the story of an exorcism, and she's the exorcist." It debuts on HBO Max on Friday.

    — Coel also stars in one of the year's best two-handers, "The Christophers," which arrives on Hulu on Saturday. Written by Ed Solomon and directed by Steven Soderbergh, the film is a kind of heist movie in disguise, in which a pair of wannabe heirs (James Corden and Jessica Gunning) hire a restoration specialist and sometimes forger (Coel) to covertly finish a series of paintings by their famous father Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen).
