On the heels of a recent top-level leadership restructuring at BBH New York that appointed John Patroulis to the new role of creative chairman and promoted Ari Weiss to chief creative officer, the agency has made a number of key hires and promotions.
Paul Kamzelas has been promoted to the role of group creative director from creative director. He has worked for such clients as Levi’s, Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Sony, Bacardi, and MTV. He began his career in design, but soon gravitated toward advertising, holding positions at Fallon, M&C Saatchi and Archibald Ingall Stretton before joining BBH NY in 2014 as creative director.
BBH NY has also hired Daniel Bonder as a creative director. He comes over from Venables Bell & Partners, San Francisco. Bonder began his advertising career as a copywriter in Toronto working for clients such as Subary, Nike and Lipton Iced Tea. He then moved to Venables Bell and Partners where he helped launch Audi’s first entry-level vehicle, as well as Google’s high-speed Internet service.
Additionally BBH has promoted three to creative directors: creative duo Hugo Bierschenk and Dean Woodhouse; and Dave Brown.
Hailing from England, Bierschenk and Woodhouse worked together at BBH London for four years on campaigns for AXE and British Airways, adding a Cannes Grand Prix for Effectiveness and the first ever D&AD Pencil for mobile marketing to their haul. In 2010 they joined BBH NY as a creative team and have continued to create successful campaigns for Axe, Sprite, PlayStation and the BBC. The two will now take on the role of creative directors.
Brown began his career in New York as an art director at R/GA, working for clients Nokia, Pepsi, Amp Energy and The Ad Council. From there, he moved to CP+B in Boulder, where he played a role in the Titanium Grand Prix-winning Twelpforce campaign for Best Buy. In 2011, Brown returned to New York to join BBH, where he has created award-winning work for PlayStation, Axe and UNICEF. He has been promoted from creative, art director to creative director.
BBH has also announced the promotion of Connor Keeshan, previously account manager, to account director; Heather Livengood, previously account manager, to associate account director; James Bundy, previously account manager, to associate account director; and Samantha Cescau, previously strategy director, to group strategy director.
Apple’s “Fuzzy Feelings” Wins Primetime Commercial Emmy Award
Apple’s “Fuzzy Feelings” won the primetime commercial Emmy this evening (9/7) during the first of two Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies being held this weekend in the Peacock Theater at LA Live. The yuletide film out of TBWAMedia Arts Lab was directed by Lucia Aniello via Hungry Man in tandem with stop-motion animator Anna Mantzaris of Passion Pictures.
“Fuzzy Feelings” introduces us to an office worker by day and stop-motion artist by night. As an employee, she works for a boss whom she’s grown to hate. So at night, her stop-motion creations put him in dire straits. The young woman makes her stop-motion fare by deploying the iPhone 15 Pro camera and a MacBook Air with M2 to edit it. However, when the woman's day job takes a turn and she starts to see her boss in another light, so too do her stop-motion endeavors as we see the value of working towards a kinder world, and what better time to start than during the holiday season?
Director Aniello is no stranger to the Emmy proceedings. As creator of the HBO Max series Hacks, she has won two Emmys (writing and directing) as well as a DGA Award. This year she is nominated for three more Emmys on the strength of Hacks--Outstanding Comedy Series as well as writing and directing for a comedy series.
This marks the second straight year that an Apple film has won the coveted primetime commercial Emmy. Back in January 2024, Apple’s “The Greatest,” directed by Kim Gehrig of Somesuch, came away with the Emmy.
This time around, “Fuzzy Feelings” topped a field of nominated commercials consisting of: Apple’s “Album Cover” from Apple’s in-house creatives and directed by David Shane of O Positive; Uber One | Uber Eats’ “Best Friends,” also... Read More
