Park Pictures Adds Director Lucy Sandler To Its Roster For Spots, Branded Content and Music Videos

    Lucy Sandler
    LOS ANGELES --

Park Pictures has signed filmmaker and photographer Lucy Sandler for U.S. representation spanning commercials, branded content and music videos.

Most recently she directed and wrote the short film The Weight of a Dog, which follows a recent retiree chaperoning her adult daughter to an abortion. The Weight of a Dog is currently on the festival circuit.

It adds to a body of work which includes films for brands such as Ford and Starface that Sandler helmed solo. Previously as part of the directing collective sportscar, she turned out content for clients including Puma, Hennessy, Spotify and Lancome. Sandler often collaborates with A-list celebrities like Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, and Billie Eilish to create memorable commercial campaigns.

And in the indie music scene, Sandler has garnered ample recognition, including an MVPA win as Best Newcomer based on her work on the music video “Gum” for Ill Peach. Also well received was her directing of “Hush” for Ill Peach, which stars a chorus of rodent animatronics.

Sandler said, “When I think of Park, I think of quiet excellence. I have always admired their roster as a sacred pocket of talented filmmakers bringing their narrative talents to the commercial space. When I started to meet the team, it was no surprise that they were also humble, good human beings. I’m excited for this next chapter..”

Scott Howard, sr. executive producer of Park Pictures, commented, “Lucy’s an incredible director with a fresh point of view that we were immediately attracted to. Her work is undeniably compelling, drawing you in with high-contrast imagery and imperceptibly tapping into your emotional life. Everyone at Park and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Lucy.”

Prior to joining Park Pictures, Sandler was handled by production company Florence in the U.S. ad market. She is repped in Canada by Denim.

Ari Aster’s COVID-Era Western “Eddington” Finds A Mixed Reception At Cannes

    Friday, May 16, 2025

Ari Aster's COVID-era Western "Eddington," about a 2020 America quickly losing its mind to conspiracy theories, TikTok and political extremism, premiered to a mixed reception at the Cannes Film Festival. "Eddington," starring Joaquin Phoenix as a muddled, mistake-prone sheriff who runs for mayor in a fictional New Mexico town, was among the most feverishly awaited American films at Cannes. It marks the first time in competition at the French festival for Aster, the lauded director of "Hereditary," "Midsommar" and "Beau Is Afraid." It's also his most politically ambitious film. "Eddington," which A24 will release in July, plunges into the U.S. pandemic psyche, plotting a small-town feud that swells to encompass nationwide events, including mask mandates, the death of George Floyd and right-left divisions. As a microcosm portrait of the United States, it's a hardly a more peaceful affair than "Midsommar." When Joe Cross (Phoenix) tires of the mask ordinances of the town's mayor (Pedro Pascal), he decides to oppose him in the upcoming election. Other pressures on Cross — Emma Stone plays his shut-in wife, who has a history with the mayor — gradually increase, driving "Eddington" toward a surreal and bloody eruption. In Aster's dark satire, both MAGA Republicans and elitist Democrats get skewered, but the new, ominous data center just outside of town suggests a common social poison in the internet. "Eddington," predictably, proved divisive at Cannes. Some critics hailed it as an eerily accurate film about contemporary America, while others called it a tedious and wayward rumination. After a not particularly enthusiastic stranding ovation, Aster himself seemed both proud and apologetic for what he had wrought. "I don't know what to say. I... Read More
