Partizan Signs Animation Studio Martian Blueberry For Commercials and Branded Content

    LOS ANGELES --

Martian Blueberry, the award-winning animation studio co-founded by Carl Jones and Love Jones, has officially joined Partizan’s roster of animation directors for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content.

Carl Jones is best known for shaping one of the most distinctive voices in adult animation as co-executive producer of the Peabody Award-winning The Boondocks. His body of work, which also includes Black Dynamite (Adult Swim) and Young Love (Max), reflects a rare ability to fuse irreverence with emotional depth.

He partnered with Love Jones–whose creative instincts were shaped by her work in entertainment, music, and startups–to launch Martian Blueberry in order to bring that same creative fearlessness to new formats and platforms. The result is a studio that prioritizes voice and vision–creating complex characters, telling underrepresented stories with nuance, and building a production model designed for flexibility and creative control.

“Love had a background in entertainment and music, and her experience with startups made her the perfect partner to launch an animation studio with,” remarked Carl Jones on Martian Blueberry’s inception. “We formed our partnership at the start of COVID–partially due to the increased demand for animation, but also because Love inspired me to turn a longtime dream into reality.”

Martian Blueberry has garnered industry acclaim, winning two Clio Awards for co-directing Megan Thee Stallion’s Neva Play music video alongside Warren Fu. Their MLB animated series Undeniable, spotlighting the true stories of Negro League heroes, earned three Clio Awards and a Webby for Best Animation. Martian Blueberry handled the animation for Undeniable, sharing the Webby with Invisible Collective which repped Carl Jones at the time. Martian Blueberry–which gains its first representation via the affiliation with Partizan–continues to innovate across platforms, from branded content for MTV, HBO, Amazon, and Meta to the gamified Spatial miniseries Unlimited for Walmart.

Among the studio’s most ambitious undertakings is Bubblegoose Ballers, an original Web3-born IP that has evolved into a dynamic, multi-platform universe. Known for its irreverent humor and cultural bite, the property has sparked everything from digital collectibles and a hit mixtape to sold-out retail collaborations with Pacsun and licensing deals spanning fashion, comics, and entertainment. From its sellout launch to over 30 million GIPHY views and a devoted global fanbase, Bubblegoose Ballers reflects Martian Blueberry’s talent for creating characters and worlds that thrive across culture, content, and commerce.

Angela Foster, Partizan’s executive producer of animation, said of Martian Blueberry, “They build worlds that are completely unreal but still totally relatable. We’re huge fans of ‘The Boondocks,’ but even with their commercial projects, they approach every project holistically and story-first, with an eye toward cultural impact. Also, Carl’s a brilliant writer and director with razor-sharp instincts, so their comedy work hits that rare sweet spot–smart, fearless, and genuinely funny. I couldn’t be more honored to have them on the roster.”

“We love the creative culture that Partizan has fostered,” added Love Jones, co-founder of Martian Blueberry. “It’s a collaborative team of cool people who truly share a passion for storytelling and film and are extremely supportive. Not to mention, they have great taste in tastemakers and an outstanding roster of talent. We’re honored to join their family, and they’ve welcomed us with open arms.”

While Aware Of Potential Oscar History Ahead, Ryan Coogler Is Focused On “Sinners” Team Before Ceremony

    Friday, March 13, 2026

Ryan Coogler understands what Sunday night could mean for Oscar history. He's just not dwelling on it.

Instead, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker is looking forward to spending one more night with his "Sinners" collaborators who helped bring the film to life.

Coogler could become the first Black filmmaker to win best director in the Academy Awards' nearly century-long history. While speaking before the eighth annual Macro Pre-Oscars party Thursday night in Los Angeles, he said he's trying to stay present as the ceremony approaches.

"I'm just trying to enjoy the days as they come, stay present in the moment," Coogler told The Associated Press. "When Sunday comes, man, I'm pull up and enjoy celebrating all the movies that's being celebrated here, including our own."

For Coogler, the Oscars also mark the final stop in a monthslong journey shared with the cast and creative team behind "Sinners."

Since early January, the group has traveled the awards circuit together, appearing at major stops including the Golden Globes,Actors Awards and NAACP Image Awards as the film built momentum ahead of the Oscars, where it's the leading nominee with 16.

Coogler said that experience helped turn the production into something closer to a family.

"We made a big ole family," he said. "Sunday kind of represents the last time that we all get to hang with each other in an official capacity as the 'Sinners' team."

After the ceremony, those gatherings will likely become less frequent.

"The next time we see each other, it won't be for this movie unless it's doing like a reunion or something," Coogler said. "I'm looking forward to hanging out with a lot of people that I love. We were able to do something very specific... Read More
