RadicalMedia has added director Wally Pfister to its talent roster for commercial representation. Pfister, ASC made his first mark in the industry as a cinematographer, winning an Oscar in 2011 for his lensing of Inception. Widely regarded as one of the industry’s foremost visual storytellers, Pfister continues to showcase his signature cinematic sensibility in creative collaborations as a director with such brands as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Nike, Under Armour, Michelob, Taco Bell, Ford, Lincoln, Nissan, and Capital One. Prior to joining RadicalMedia, Pfister had most recently been repped in the ad arena by production house RESET.
Known for his longstanding collaboration with director Christopher Nolan, Pfister served as DP on Inception, Memento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight trilogy. Pfister has earned a total of four Best Cinematography Oscar nominations, the other three coming for Batman Begins in 2006, The Prestige in 2007, and The Dark Knight in 2009. A pioneer in large-format filmmaking, Pfister was the first cinematographer to employ 65mm IMAX cameras on a theatrical feature with The Dark Knight. His additional credits include The Italian Job, Laurel Canyon, and Moneyball.
Following his acclaimed cinematography career, Pfister expanded into directing, making his feature debut with Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. He went on to direct the pilot and multiple episodes of Netflix’s Flaked and Amazon’s The Tick. In the commercial space, Pfister merges narrative artistry with technical innovation to create emotionally resonant campaigns that live at the intersection of cinema and advertising.
“I’ve always admired the work coming out of Radical,” said Pfister. “Their commercial output is world-class and very much aligned with my own sensibilities as a director. The level of creative support they offer is unmatched–they truly champion unique voices and curate a diverse, dynamic roster. I’m honored to join their ranks.”
RadicalMedia president Frank Scherma added, “Wally is a singular auteur whose visual language has shaped modern cinema. He’s responsible for some of the most indelible imagery in film history, and we’re thrilled to see him bring that vision to brand storytelling. An extraordinary director and collaborator–we’re lucky to have him.”
