    A staple in the commercial representation industry for more than three decades, indie firm Hilly Reps is now Sonia Reps. In a role reversal of sorts, advertising veteran Sonia Blum has purchased the company from Hillary Herbst, establishing Sonia Reps. Herbst will continue working with the company, providing her experience and dedication.  “The plan was always that Sonia would take over as I wound down,” said Herbst.  “She brings an understanding of both sides of the business, having spent eight years at FCB and two years at Havas before she started working with me in 2012.” Sonia Reps handles the Midwest for a roster which includes: live action companies The Colony (NY/Sydney), Durable Goods (LA/NY), The Famous Group (LA/NY), Grand Large (NYC/Paris), Rodeo Show (LA), UVA(LA) and 71 Degrees North(Chicago); Animation/CG/VFX studios AfterParty (NY), BENT Image Lab(Portland), Jelly London (London), and NERD Productions (London); postproduction house The Colonie (Chicago); and music/sound design shop Nylon Studios (NY/Sydney)….

    Heather Guillen and Katy Richter, founders of indie rep firm The Standard Society, will handle the Midwest for production and post house Optimus. Guillen and Richter will work with Tim Jacobs, Optimus’ national director of sales….

    Shure Incorporated, manufacturer of microphones and audio electronics, announced an expanded, global role for Mark Humrichouser, as VP of its Americas and Asia/Pacific sales organizations. In this role, he leads the sales, marketing, customer training and education, customer service, and product technical support functions for these regions. Prior to this appointment, Humrichouser served as VP and general manager of the company’s Americas business unit. His other positions at Shure were general manager of the U.S. business unit and director of U.S. sales. He began his career at Shure in 2006, after a nine-year tenure at Sennheiser U.S., where he served in several roles, including team manager for professional systems and the music industry, regional sales manager, and regional market development manager….

    While Aware Of Potential Oscar History Ahead, Ryan Coogler Is Focused On “Sinners” Team Before Ceremony

    Ryan Coogler understands what Sunday night could mean for Oscar history. He's just not dwelling on it.

    Instead, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker is looking forward to spending one more night with his "Sinners" collaborators who helped bring the film to life.

    Coogler could become the first Black filmmaker to win best director in the Academy Awards' nearly century-long history. While speaking before the eighth annual Macro Pre-Oscars party Thursday night in Los Angeles, he said he's trying to stay present as the ceremony approaches.

    "I'm just trying to enjoy the days as they come, stay present in the moment," Coogler told The Associated Press. "When Sunday comes, man, I'm pull up and enjoy celebrating all the movies that's being celebrated here, including our own."

    For Coogler, the Oscars also mark the final stop in a monthslong journey shared with the cast and creative team behind "Sinners."

    Since early January, the group has traveled the awards circuit together, appearing at major stops including the Golden Globes,Actors Awards and NAACP Image Awards as the film built momentum ahead of the Oscars, where it's the leading nominee with 16.

    Coogler said that experience helped turn the production into something closer to a family.

    "We made a big ole family," he said. "Sunday kind of represents the last time that we all get to hang with each other in an official capacity as the 'Sinners' team."

    After the ceremony, those gatherings will likely become less frequent.

    "The next time we see each other, it won't be for this movie unless it's doing like a reunion or something," Coogler said. "I'm looking forward to hanging out with a lot of people that I love. We were able to do something very specific... Read More
