Chris Cottam has joined the directorial roster of L.A.-based production company Slash Dynamic for representation in the U.S. spanning commercials and branded content. Cottam’s extensive body of work across film, TV, spots, music videos and documentaries exemplifies his multi-faceted skills. With an emphasis on humor-driven narrative, he frequently collaborates with celebrity talent, including Tom Hardy, Owen Wilson, Heidi Klum and Kate Moss.
Cottam had previously been repped by production house JOJX. In recent months he’s been focused on his long-form content and series launches.
Cottam’s latest series was just released on Quibi–Nikki Fresh starring Nicole Richie. The comedic, music-based series is one of the first to air on the newly launched mobile phone streaming service platform.
Cottam recently directed a comedic travel series for BBC, The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan. Ranganathan is a British stand-up comic and actor, and the series has taken them on epic adventures, to some of the most remote places in the world–such as camping in the Arctic and Mongolia.
Currently filming is Perfectly Legal, another travel documentary series starring former The Great British Baking Show host Sue Perkins, which is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.
Last week Cottam filmed a BBC promo for The Big Night In, benefiting Children in Need, which featured U.K. celebrities, all shot remotely over Zoom. It’s an excellent exercise to show how adaptable and creative the advertising business can be.

Cottam has helmed commercial campaigns for Samsung, O2 T-Mobile, Baileys, Papyrus, Rimmel, Umbro, BBC and many others. Additionally, he has directed music videos for various award-winning artists, including Ellie Goulding, Robyn, Nelly Furtado, Logic, and Timberland. He also happens to be a music composer and has been known to create the music for some of his work.
