Production house slim has added two directors to its roster–reuniting with Thomas Garber, and bringing aboard Leonardo Dalessandri for his first U.S. representation.
Garber first signed with slim in 2013 and now returns after a stint at Caviar. In the U.S. Garber has directed for the likes of Jeep, Dodge, AT&T, Lincoln, Disney, Corona, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Nissan. He started working as an editor and that experience still shows strongly in his work today. Garber directs his spots with an imaginary edit in mind, connecting emotions and creating a cinematic visual flow. He is at home in Berlin but spends a good portion of the year in the U.S.
Meanwhile Dalessandri has been on slim's radar for many years. Finally, after a few projects Slim has officially added him to its lineup. His work encompasses travel, landscapes and millennial lifestyle combined with tech and food. He's been sought out by tech clients the likes of Apple, Samsung and Huawei, as well as lifestyle brands such as Corona, Expedia and Turkish Airlines.
An Italian filmmaker who makes his home in Istanbul, Dalessandri came to notoriety in the film world with a short titled Watchtower of Turkey that garnered over 6 million views. The film was not omly directed but also shot, edited and sound designed by Dalessandri,
Full Lineup Set For AFI Fest; Official Selections Span 44 Countries, Include 9 Best International Feature Oscar Submissions
The American Film Institute (AFI) has unveiled the full lineup for this yearโs AFI Fest, taking place in Los Angeles from October 23-27. Rounding out the slate of already announced titles are such highlights as September 5 directed by Tim Fehlbaum, All We Imagine As Light directed by Payal Kapadia, The Luckiest Man in America directed by Samir Oliveros (AFI Class of 2019), Zurawski v. Texas from executive producers Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Jennifer Lawrence and directors Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault, and Oh, Canada directed by Paul Schrader (AFI Class of 1969). A total of 158 films are set to screen at the 38th edition of AFI Fest.
Of the official selections, 48% are directed by women and non-binary filmmakers and 26% are directed by BIPOC filmmakers.
