Stept Studios has added director Warner Shaw to its roster for his first commercial representation.
Shaw brings a distinctive storytelling and visual voice as well as deep postproduction fluency to his new roost. A former college football quarterback from Hawaii, Shaw has demonstrated both discipline and imagination in his directing for brands including Apple, Netflix, Nike, AMD and Oakley. In addition to garnering two Webby Awards for work he’s directed, Shaw has edited projects that have earned an Emmy nomination, and recognition from the Clio and Cannes Lions competitions. A Cannes Gold Lion win and a primetime Emmy nod came in 2019 for “Behind the Mac–Make Something Wonderful” out of TBWAMedia Arts Lab.
Recent highlights include Oakley’s campaign announcing the brand’s partnership with Axiom Space and NASA, a spot and short documentary crafted with cinematic precision and advanced VFX techniques that transformed complex product innovation into emotionally resonant and beautiful storytelling. Shaw also helmed Oakley’s new 2025 NFL campaign starring wide receiver Justin Jefferson and flag football icon Diana Flores, further demonstrating the filmmaker’s ability to elevate sports-driven narratives.
Shaw joins a Stept roster known for cultivating multi-hyphenate directors whose layered expertise across creative, technical, and editorial disciplines unlocks new creative possibilities. “At Stept, we recognize and value directors who think beyond the lens,” said Joe Biggins, managing director of commercials at Stept. “Warner is a perfect example of that. His background in editing and VFX isn’t just additive–it allows him to problem-solve creatively and technically in ways that enhance every project.”
“I am so excited to be joining the Stept roster,” said Shaw. “I’ve followed Stept’s work for years, and it has always stood out to me. With my background in film and sports–and where I see my directing career going–it feels like the perfect home.”
