    Kevin Berlandi, probably best known for his feature film work as assistant director on Transformers, has joined The Cavalry Productions for representation as a commercial director….

    Treehouse has added editor Jason Payne who is well known in the Dallas advertising community through previous posts with Fast Cuts, N2O and The Richards Group. He becomes Treehouse’s fourth editor, joining founder Peter Tarter, Jayson Limmer and John McStravick. (The company’s key staff also includes Executive Producer Jeremy Besser and finishing editor Bryan Bayley.) Payne brings more than a dozen years of experience as a commercial editor and a reel that includes work for H-E-B, Red Lobster, Georgia Power, Firestone, and McDonald’s….

    Visual effects supervisor Jon Massey, a two-time Emmy nominee, has joined Burbank, Calif.-based FuseFX. In his first project with the studio, Massey is serving as VFX supervisor for Turn, the Revolutionary War series now in its second season on AMC. With more than 10 years of experience as a visual effects supervisor and producer, Massey brings expertise in pre-production visual effects design and planning, on-set visual effects supervision and visual effects production. Massey comes to FuseFX from Zoic Studios where he served as a visual effects supervisor for nearly a decade. His work there included seven seasons of True Blood, as well as the series Angel and Over There. He earned Emmy Award nominations for his work on the pilots for Hemlock Grove and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Massey got his start as a camera assistant and made the transition to visual effects at 525 Post Production, Hollywood….

    The sound mixing team on F1 topped the live-action motion picture category at the 62nd Annual Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards on Saturday night (3/7) at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom. The evening honored excellence in sound mixing across motion pictures, television, and non-fiction programming, with industry leaders and acclaimed filmmakers gathering to celebrate the art and craft of sound. KPop Demon Hunters won the animated motion picture competition while Becoming Led Zeppelin took the feature documentary honor. Television winners included The Pitt, The Studio and Adolescence. Hosted by comedian, actor, writer and producer Chris Hardwick, the ceremony recognized outstanding achievements across seven competitive categories, along with the presentation of three special honors: the CAS Career Achievement Award, the CAS Filmmaker Award, and the inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology. The CAS Career Achievement Award was presented by Benny Safdie to Academy Award®–winning re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay CAS (Gravity, No Country for Old Men, Roma). Academy Award®–winning director Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein, The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth) was honored with the CAS Filmmaker Award, presented by Jon Favreau and Scott Gershin. Presenters throughout the evening included Jaimie Alexander, Eric André, Doug Jones, Kevin Nealon, Tig Notaro, Ron Perlman, Karolina Wydra, and “Weird Al” Yankovic. As previously announced, the Cinema Audio Society also presented the inaugural Jeffrey S.
