    After a successful first year with Stink in the U.K., director Ariel Kleiman is extending his commitment with the production house and will be represented by it in the U.S. as well. Kleiman is directing the second season of crime mystery drama Top of the Lake–China Girl, set in his homeland of Australia. Season two debuted this past Sunday in the U.S. Kleiman’s 2008 film Young Love made a major splash at the Sundance Film Festival. His short Deeper Than Yesterday won several accolades at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, including the Discovery Award and Small Golden Rail, and went on to receive the Short Filmmaking Award at the 2011 Sundance Fest….

    “F1,” “Frankenstein” and “Sinners” Among Nominees For Cinema Audio Society Awards

    The Cinema Audio Society has unveiled its nominees in seven categories for the 62nd Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing, honoring work released in 2025. Among the feature films in the running are F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, One Battle After Another and Sinners. One-hour TV series nominees are Andor, Pluribus, Severance, Stranger Things and The Pitt. The 62nd CAS Awards will be held on Saturday, March 7, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. As previously announced, Academy Award®–winning re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay CAS (Gravity, No Country for Old Men, Roma) will be honored with the CAS Career Achievement Award. In addition, visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth, Frankenstein) will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award. The CAS Award nominees highlight the outstanding contributions of sound mixers, recognizing excellence in the specialized craft of sound mixing for both motion pictures and television. Each year, accomplished CAS members--who possess extensive expertise in the art and science of sound--review hundreds of submissions to ensure the nominees represent the highest standards of achievement in cinematic sound. “2025 showcased an extraordinary range, ambition, and artistry across the sound community,” said Peter Kurland, CAS president. “From intimate character-driven stories to large-scale spectacles, this year’s nominees demonstrate the impact of outstanding sound mixing across film and television.
