Anonymous Content has signed director Elena Petitti di Roreto for commercial and music video representation in the UK. This marks her first U.K. representation; she continues to be handled in the U.S. by Epoch Films. Known for building layered, imaginative narratives for commercials and fashion films, Petitti di Roreto has brought her strong attention to aesthetics–details, light and composition–to projects for worldwide brands including Hennessy, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Hugo Boss, Vogue Italia and i-D. Currently based in London, Petitti di Roreto began her career as an editor at Milan-based production company Collateral Films. She took on the role of art director for the company within a year, later moving on to become a freelance art director and director. In the relatively short time she’s been directing, her work has already won several awards, including Best New Italian Film at the Fashion Film Festival Milano in 2016 and 2018….
PRETTYBIRD has added director Jason Bock to its London roster. Originating from New Zealand, Bock has a background in art, design and visual effects, and his work possesses a strong emphasis on aesthetics, blurring the lines between the genres of music video, short films and commercials. He likes to twist concepts and visuals to create an unorthodox form of storytelling. Bock recently directed the ”Cruel” promo for electronic heavyweights “Mt Eden,” which was awarded “Best Narrative” at the Berlin Music Video Awards this year. Crossing the boundary of film and music video, he spent a month shooting the “Mt Eden” project in an isolated village in Indonesia. The entire performing ensemble consisted of non-actors, street casted from the village, imbuing the film with a sense of realism and authenticity. Bock’s “Feeling Free” for “Leisure” has just won Best Video at the Clipped Music Video Festival. “Leisure” is a series of portraits showing an eclectic nudist colony finding solace in a world which is at once both utopian and dystopian…..

DOC NYC--the documentary festival celebrating its 15th anniversary in-person November 13-21 at IFC Center, SVA Theatre and Village East by Angelika, and continuing online through December 1--has unveiled its main slate lineup. The 2024 festival presents more than 110 feature-length documentaries (including yet-to-be-announced Short List and Winner’s Circle titles) among over 200 films and dozens of events, with filmmakers expected in person at most screenings.
Opening the festival on Nov. 13 at SVA Theater will be the U.S. premiere of Sinead O’Shea’s inspiring portrait Blue Road--The Edna O’Brien Story, a breakout hit from the recent Toronto International Film Festival that honors the legendary Irish writer, who passed away just a few months ago at the age of 93.
Closing the festival on Nov. 21, also at SVA Theatre, will be the world premiere of Peter Yost and Michael Rohatyn’s Drop Dead City--New York on the Brink in 1975, a look back at the circumstances and players involved in NYC’s mid-70s financial crisis. The festival’s Centerpiece screening on Nov. 14 at Village East is the World premiere of Ondi Timoner’s All God’s Children (also part of the festival’s U.S. Competition), a chronicle of a Brooklyn rabbi and Baptist pastor who join forces to create greater unity between their two communities, against all odds.
Included are 31 world premieres and 24 U.S. premieres, with eight of those presented in the U.S. Competition, for new American-produced nonfiction films, and another eight featured in International Competition, for work from around the globe.
