Superprime Films Signs Director Diego Contreras

    Diego Contreras
    LOS ANGELES --

Superprime Films has signed director Diego Contreras for U.S. representation.

A former art director at BBDO New York, Anomaly, and CP+B, Contreras shifted to full-time filmmaking in 2015, building a wide-ranging body of work across narrative shorts, music videos, and commercials for brands including Apple, Facebook, Ford, Reebok, and PlayStation. Prior to joining Superprime, he had most recently been represented in the U.S. market by production house Love Song. Internationally Contreras is repped in France by Division, in Brazil, Denmark and Sweden by Immigrant Studio, in Spain by Blur, and in Germany by Tempomedia.

From the warmth and connection of his Facebook piece “Community,” which spotlights the power of togetherness across diverse cultures, to the contemplative tones of Amica’s “More Human,” a meditation on isolation in our tech-saturated world, Contreras’s work continually examines the dualities that shape modern life. His affinity for detailed character and world building shines in projects like iPhone 13 Pro and Final Fantasy XVI’s “Requiem,” where custom-built sets and soundtracks converge to envelop viewers in vividly realized realms.

“I’ve always been drawn to tell stories that spark real wonder while staying grounded in authentic human experience,” said Contreras. “Superprime shares my passion for crafting meaningful, beautifully crafted narratives, and I’m thrilled to join a team that values bold creativity and heartfelt humanity. Together, we’ll continue pushing visual boundaries while crafting stories that inspire and unite.”

Originally from Guatemala and now based in Los Angeles, Contreras has a heritage and cultural identity which often shine through in his films and offer a unique perspective. He has earned recognition from Cannes Lions, Clios, The One Show, and Webby Awards. Drawn to projects that are fresh, unexpected, and emotionally resonant, he immerses himself in inventive characters, meaningful dialogue, and fully realized worlds.

“We’ve been fans of Diego’s for a while now–his ability to fuse big cinematic moments with genuine human warmth is really special,” said Michelle Ross, founding partner of Superprime Films. “We can’t wait to see where he takes that vision next, and excited to bring his energy and heart to the Superprime family.”

Takeover Bid Of Parent Company Means Limbo For CNN, Some Fellow Cable Networks

    Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Paramount Skydance's hostile takeover bid of Warner Bros. Discovery, announced Monday, places CNN and its sister cable networks squarely back into what is likely to be an extended period of management limbo. There was some relief at CNN with last Friday's announcement that Netflix was buying Warner's studio and streaming businesses, since the cable network would not be a part of that deal. Paramount's bid, if successful, opens the possibility of a combined CNN and CBS News. The management uncertainty adds to what is already a challenging time at CNN, where there was no doubt who was in charge before swashbuckling founder Ted Turner sold his company in 1996. "That era might as well be the roaring '20s for how long ago it feels," said Ross Benes, senior analyst at emarketer.com. Paramount's bid, which must be approved by shareholders and regulators, could be seen favorably by President Donald Trump, who is closely allied with Paramount Skydance chairman and CEO David Ellison as well as his father, Oracle founder Larry Ellison. But Trump has already expressed anger at the company on social media for Sunday's "60 Minutes" report on former U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Prior to Friday's announcement, Warner Bros. Discovery had said it planned to spin off its cable television networks including CNN, Discovery, HGTV, the Food Network and TLC, into a separate company. The growth of streaming has made cable networks an unattractive business. “Those announcements lead to more uncertainty and greater anxiety among the current CNN staff and among those of us who served for many years as leaders of CNN under Ted,” said Tom Johnson, former CNN president in the 1990s. CNN's television ratings have tumbled to the extent that it is firmly the third-rated... Read More
