    Wain Choi
    TORONTO --

Wain Choi has joined Toronto agency Zulu Alpha Kilo as executive creative director. Choi returns to Canada after 16 years abroad, most recently as chief creative officer/EVP at CJ Live City in Seoul, Korea where he led the team responsible for building a playground for creative minds (a new concept theme park). Before that he was SVP and chief creative officer at Cheil Worldwide where he was regarded as one of the top creative directors in the Asia Pacific region.

An art director by trade who got his start in Toronto, Choi has seen his career take him across the globe to Europe and Asia. Choi has held leading creative roles in global agencies including Ogilvy, Y&R, and Dentsu. In Canada, he’s worked at Cossette and Ammirati & Puris. His experience includes leading global brands such as Coca-Cola, Ford, GM, Nike, Samsung and Toyota F1.

“I’ve been following Zulu’s work from abroad. The agency has so many amazing clients, great people and a fearless entrepreneurial spirit. I’m excited to help bring Zulu’s audacious creative vision to life,” said Choi.

Choi has led award-winning campaigns such as Samsung’s “Look At Me” app to help children with autism. Children with autism usually don’t make and sustain eye contact with others, but they like to interact with smart devices. Based on this finding, Choi and his team collaborated with researchers and doctors from Seoul National University and Yonsei University. After months of testing, the children learned how to read a person’s mood, remember faces and take photos on their Samsung devices while displaying a range of emotions.

For Uniqlo, Choi also lead the creation of a promotional piece that actually generated warmth in the winter–The Heat Tech Window. 500,000 Heat Tech Windows were given out with each purchase of Uniqlo’s Heat Tech thermal wear product. By applying the Heat Tech Window to a window at home, the room temperature would rise by 2~3°C(3.6~5.4°F).

Both campaigns won coveted Cannes Lions, D&AD and One show pencils. Besides being awarded numerous times at these festivals, his work has won medals at the Clios, Spikes, Adfest among others. In addition, his jury duties have included Cannes, D&AD Foreman, The One Show, Spikes Jury President, Adfest jury president, AdStars jury president, Clios and Dubai Lynx,

Choi has also been a keynote speaker internationally at Cannes Lions 2017, Dubai Lynx 2015, AdAsia Bali 2017, A Fireside Chat for the Singapore Advertisers Association 2017, Goafest India 2018 and Brand Magic Summit Mauritius 2018.

“We are thrilled about bringing someone of Wain’s exceptional talent back to Canada. He understands the Canadian market and his global experience will bring a really fresh perspective to the work,” said Zak Mroueh, Zulu’s founder and chief creative officer.

Judge Awards Blake Lively Legal Fees But No More Damages In “It Ends With Us” Dispute

    Friday, June 12, 2026

Blake Lively can recover some legal costs from fellow actor and director Justin Baldoni but not punitive damages and other relief she sought after settling her legal claims over their 2024 film "It Ends With Us," a judge ruled Friday.

Judge Lewis J. Liman said in a written decision that Lively can recover legal fees and costs related to her defense against a countersuit Baldoni brought against her after she sued him in December 2024.

In his written ruling Friday, Liman cited a California law designed to protect survivors of sexual harassment and discrimination from retaliatory lawsuits meant to intimidate and silence victims.

The judge said the law requires that the plaintiff must pay the defendant's legal fees and costs if a defamation claim made in response to a lawsuit is dismissed, even if the facts of the case have not been developed through the gathering of evidence.

Liman said an exception would be if Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios LLC, could prove malice fueled Lively's claims, but that Baldoni and Wayfarer had produced no evidence to show that.

The judge rejected her claims to triple any damages and pursue punitive damages as well under the California law, saying that they did not fall within "carefully crafted federal procedural rules designed to protect the rights of the parties."

Lively and Baldoni settled the bulk of their dispute last month just as a trial was about to start on Lively's retaliation claims. She received no money from the deal but was permitted to pursue legal fees.

In their statements, both sides cast Liman's ruling as a victory.

Lively lawyers Michael Gottlieb and Esra Hudson said the award of legal fees "makes it clear that Ms. Lively brought her claims in... Read More
