David Boxser named managing director of Alldayeveryday

NEW YORK -- 

Alldayeveryday has appointed David Boxser as managing director, a new position at the entertainment and media company. Boxser will lead the growth of Alldayeveryday’s creative services division, and support the trajectory of the Allday brand as a whole.

He joins Alldayeveryday from the fashion and luxury agency Wednesday, where he served as president of its New York office. There he worked across numerous clients including Nike, Calvin Klein, Cole Haan, Tacori, Tory Burch and Estee Lauder.

Earlier in his career, Boxser was group business director at Engine Group-owned Deep Focus, where he ran a number of high-profile accounts including Nestlé, Pernod Ricard, Wellpoint and Samsung. He has also had stints at Publicis and Digitas, working on American Express and LG Electronics.

Kevin Kearney, managing partner at Alldayeveryday, said Boxser will play an integral role in sustaining the growth of the company’s creative services department and its further integration with the entertainment division, “offering clients unique creative solutions” and access “to talent and connections within the creative community.”

Alasdhair Macgregor Hastie to join BETC as VP/ECD

Alasdhair Macgregor Hastie will be joining agency BETC as VP, executive creative director for international clients.

In the recent past he was CCO of Being/TBWA, based in Paris, notably working on the launch of the Datsun brand for Nissan in Asia, especially India and Japan, Russia and South Africa, and in Doha growing the reputation of The Qatar Foundation.

He has worked in several countries on clients such as P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Nissan, Jeep, Fiat, and Chrysler. In the past two years his work has been rewarded at Cannes Lions, including Gold, Eurobest, including Grand Prix, Epica, The One Show, Cristal Festival, and Club des AD.

His film for Come4 was among the most awarded globally as rated by the Gunn Report in 2014.

Bruce, Paulekas promoted to creative directors at twofifteenmccann

Agency twofifteenmccann has expanded its creative leadership with the promotion of Neil Bruce and Ezra Paulekas to creative directors.

Bruce joined twofifteenmccann in 2011 from TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles where he worked on Sprint, Snickers, Skittles and Starburst. Previously, he was with Wieden+Kennedy in Portland where he was a writer on ESPN and Nike’s Brand Jordan.

Paulekas began his career as a graphic designer, front-end developer, 3D artist and animator on the east coast before moving to Los Angeles to join Sony Picture’s film marketing group. Prior to joining twofifteenmccann in 2014, he led work on Zune, The History Channel and T-Mobile at design studio Expolis, and worked on Intel, Google and Reebok at Venables Bell & Partners.

Optimus adds editor Carl Schumacher

Editor Carl Schumacher has joined Optimus. A veteran of the Chicago post community, Schumacher brings experience with brands as diverse as the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Disney, Indiana University Health, Miller Lite, Oscar Mayer and State Farm for agencies including DDB, Digitas, Leo Burnett, mcgarrybowen and Schafer Condon Carter.

Most recently, Schumacher was an editor and partner at Conspiracy. Before that, he worked at Cutters in Chicago from 2007 until early this year. At Cutters, Schumacher worked his way up from intern to assistant and then made his way to the editor’s chair in 2010. He earned this relatively quick promotion to editor by working to cut anything and everything he could get his hands on, from commercial client work to videos and short films he did in his own time.

Optimus EP/managing director Gretchen Praeger said of Schumacher, “He is a great fit for Optimus, especially during this exciting time as we expand our roster and anticipate our move to the Wrigley Building.”

As partner at Butcher, Gersten will continue to showcase his wide range of cutting styles while also assuming an essential mentorship role to the assistant editors on staff.

Prior to joining Butcher, Gersten honed his editorial craft on the agency side at several New York shops including Euro RSCG (now Havas).

Wanda Meloni named exec director of Open Gaming Alliance

The Open Gaming Alliance (OGA), a non-profit trade association focused on building business opportunities for the games industry, has named Wanda Meloni as its executive director effective. She has been serving on the organization’s board since January of this year as VP. In her new role, Meloni will spearhead the OGA’s efforts to build and expand business opportunities and innovation within the games ecosystem.

As executive director, Meloni will be dedicated to strategic planning, positioning and implementation of the OGA’s initiatives while creating valuable membership programs and aligning with key industry partners. In addition to her work with the OGA, Meloni is the founder and CEO of M2 Advisory Group (formerly M2 Research), and the editor-in-chief of Games Business Review.

Valerie Carlson named exec creative director of design innovation at EVB

Full-service agency EVB has hired Valerie Carlson as executive creative director of design innovation, a new position. She will work out of the agency’s Oakland office and report to founder/CEO Daniel Stein.

Most recently, Carlson was ECD/global innovation Lead at SapientNitro in Los Angeles, where she oversaw experience, design and content teams. Before that, she was VP-creative at Razorfish, where she created successful brand, marketing and product solutions for a range of global brands for 13 years. Prior to working at Razorfish, she spent seven years teaching graphic design at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.

Carlson’s unique background in marketing, digital and education allows her to partner with clients to create innovative solutions that deliver a real return on investment. She has recently been building virtual reality prototypes as a way to test and learn.

Diego Medvedocky promoted to VP, regional creative director of Grey Latin America

Alain Groenendaal, president and CEO of Grey Latin America, announced the promotion of Diego Medvedocky to VP, regional creative director. Medvedocky will continue his creative leadership of Grey Argentina, splitting his time between the agency and Grey’s 13 offices throughout the region.

Medvedocky joined Grey Latin America in 2013 as general creative director of Grey Argentina. In 2014, under his creative leadership, the agency won several distinguished awards, such as a Grand Prix and the title of “Agency of the Year” at the Argentina Creative Circle Diente festival, one of the most prestigious local advertising awards. In addition, the agency took home four Lions in 2014 and six more at the 2015 Cannes Festival. Diego is also a valued figure in the global network for his contributions to the Grey Global Creative Council, and last year was named Chairman of the Latin America version of the Council.

Deep Focus, a global digitally-led creative agency, has promoted Kara O’Neill from managing director to president of its New York office. She reports directly to Ian Schafer, founder and chairman.

A marketing vet with more than 20 years of experience, O’Neill joined Deep Focus in 2014 from Y&R NY, where she led the agency’s food practice for clients such as Hillshire Farm, Campbell’s Soup and Pepperidge Farm. Prior to Y&R, O’Neill spent 11 years at BrandBuzz as the general manager, where she managed a team of 60 responsible for creative and strategic planning for the likes of LG, the Nets, the NBA, Jim Beam Brands and SONY.

O’Neill’s background working at Y&R, BrandBuzz, Ranch 1 and Clarion Performance Properties has allowed her to represent many iconic brands, including Coca-Cola, Perrier, NASCAR and General Mills. Greenpoint adds director Jonathan Yi

Director and cinematographer Jonathan Yi has joined Greenpoint Pictures for commercial representation. Yi is known for his honest, intimate documentary storytelling and cinematography expertise.

In the commercial space Yi has directed work for clients including Estee Lauder, Wells Fargo, SAP, Mattel, American Express, Nickelodeon, monster.com, Intel and HP. On the technical side, Yi consulted for Canon USA on its 2011 Cinema EOS product line. His promo video for the EOS C300 went viral, helping launch the EOS C300 to success in the marketplace.

Yi has gained much acclaim through his documentary work, directing five installments of the award-winning documentary series East of Main Street​ for HBO, and the upcoming feature documentary Mad Tiger, which profiles the colorful, costume-donning Japanese punk band Peelander-Z. Yi’s film Shift, which he shot, directed and produced, has been screened at a number of film festivals including the Hamptons International Film Festival. Yi has also shot music videos for Paul McCartney, Twisted Sister, Poison, Daniel Johnston and Mates of State.      

When he’s not directing, Yi teaches 16mm and digital cinematography at NYU. He comes to Greenpoint Pictures from Click 3X.
