Rob Goldenberg, Helena Skonieczny join Pitch

LOS ANGELES -- 

Pitch, a full-service creative advertising agency, has added Rob Goldenberg as executive creative director and Helena Skonieczny as executive design director and creative director. The pair will work separately and as a creative team and report directly to Xanthe Wells, Pitch chief creative officer. These senior hires follow on the agency’s recent wins of several new accounts including Haggen, Bonefish Grill, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, Konami, Citrix, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and project assignments for Netflix.

Goldenberg spent most of 2013-’14 as director of brand marketing for Beats Music where he helped create and oversee all their messaging. He began his career with a seven-year stint at Secret Weapon Marketing in L.A. working on Jack in the Box campaigns, compiling over 250 TV commercials and radio spots that earned recognition from Cannes Lions, The One Show, and Radio Mercury Awards. After spending a year in Singapore with Bates running global campaigns for Heineken and Nokia, he returned to LA and worked as associate creative director with Deutsch where he created the account winning “Trust me, I’m a Doctor” campaign for Dr. Pepper and the “Punch Dub” Super Bowl commercial for Volkswagen. As a freelancer at TBWA\Media Arts Lab (MAL), Goldenberg helped craft the “Intention” campaign for Apple, which won two Cannes Gold Lions and opened Apple’s 2013 World Wide Developer Conference.

Skonieczny comes to Pitch from MAL, where she was associate creative director. She has worked on campaigns for Crate&Barrel, Apple’s iPhone 5s, Target, Diet Pepsi, Gatorade and Visa Olympics, among others. Through MAL’s newest division Audience Behavior Lab (ABL), Skonieczny recently helped launch “Nature is Speaking,” an environmental campaign for Conservation International featuring Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts, Harrison Ford, Penelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o and Edward Norton.

Aaron King joins Spontaneous as creative director

Design and VFX studio Spontaneous has hired Aaron King as creative director. He is a veteran CD who has been a driving force behind assorted iconic rebrands, promos, main titles and commercials for HBO, Showtime, LIFETIME, Syfy, ESPN, Olay, Citi and BMW.

Most recently, King served as partner at Be Creative Management, where he curated world-class studios in a number of disciplines ranging from strategy to execution. He oversaw concept and design across all platforms, including commercials, promos, television packaging, motion graphics, animation, print, key art and digital and social media.

King got his start as a creative director and designer for creative agency and design house Pittard Sullivan. He would eventually land at New York-based Pure as executive creative director, where he oversaw its transformation into a commercial visual effects and design company.

Spontaneous is part of Lively Group, the parent company of BlueRock, Scarlett and Ballistic. Lively Group is certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a certified woman-owned company.

Beast promotes Ben Ellis to editor in Austin

Beast, a national creative editorial company, has promoted Ben Ellis to editor. Ellis has been with Beast’s Austin office for seven years, starting as a freelance assistant editor and later transitioning to lead assistant editor under Sam Selis, working on national commercial projects for Walgreen’s, Zales and Pacifico Beer, among others. He holds a degree in film from the department of Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas. Ellis discovered his passion for editing as a teenager while making amateur skateboarding videos with friends.

Director/animator Elliot Lim joins Not To Scale

Director Elliot Lim has come aboard the roster of NY-based production and animation company Not To Scale. His credits include campaigns for such brands as Ritz Carlton, Coach, Jaritos and MasterCard.

Lim’s work--featuring evocative animation--has been recognized at the 2005 Adobe Design Achievement Awards, the Icon Chef Challenge 2005 Chicago Resfest, and the 2007 Communication Arts Awards of Excellence.

Founded in London in 2005, Not To Scale also maintains studios in Amsterdam and New York City.

Passion Pictures signs director Joshua Harvey

International animation and film production company Passion Pictures, with offices in NY, London, Paris and Melbourne, has signed L.A.-based director Joshua Harvey for exclusive worldwide representation.

Harvey was previously creative director at Buck where he co-led, designed and animated films in various visual styles for clients including MTV, Honda, Telstra and ChildLine. His work has been honored with awards from numerous shows including the Clios, LIAs, and ADC Designism. In 2013 he was named one of Young Guns’ Top 30 Under 30.

Harvey said he was drawn to Passion’s range of high-quality storytelling across different platforms. He is also looking forward to being involved in Passion’s forays into storytelling via new technology such as virtual reality. “I’m excited to have such an experienced team to work with, specifically one that doesn’t shy away from new frontiers,” enthused the director. “Beyond elevating the quality of productions I’ve done in the past, I’m looking ahead to more non-linear storytelling and interactive design and gaming. The potential for VR is extremely interesting to me and I’d love to do some work in that arena.”

SuperExploder adds Meredith Nazzaro as sr. producer

Industry veteran Meredith Nazzaro has joined NY-based audio house SuperExploder as sr. producer. With more than a decade of experience in postproduction, she has worked extensively across broadcast promotions and commercials, collaborating with leading television networks and ad agencies. As sr. producer, she will oversee all mixing, sound design and original music composition projects at SuperExploder.

After studying Communications at Rutgers University, New Jersey native Nazzaro got her start in the post industry at NYC audio post shop Bionic. She spent eight years there producing a wide range of network broadcast projects for the likes of USA Network, SyFy and The Food Network. She moved on to join audioEngine as executive producer, leading a team of seasoned mixers, composers and sound designers on commercial projects, including several Budweiser Super Bowl ads.

Shelley Ong to oversee brand impact team at Enso

Ong will oversee the brand impact team, which looks to lead, cultivate and grow brands that deliver both business and social impact. She will shepherd the business strategy, strategic partnerships and day-to-day account management across all accounts as well as provide forward thinking opportunities for new and existing clients.

Ong brings more than 10 years of experience in brand development, communication strategy and integrated campaigns. She’s worked with leading global brands including Procter & Gamble, Kellogg’s and TELUS, as well as with local social enterprises and NGOs around the world. Prior to joining Enso, Ong led the masterbrand division for Samsung Global at Leo Burnett, where she was instrumental in developing its first global brand creative platform. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a double-specialization in marketing and international business.

Colorist Robert Curreri Joins Company 3 Detroit

Company 3 has brought colorist Robert Curreri to its Detroit area facility. A prominent short-form colorist, Curreri has graded commercials for high profile brands including Honda, Target, Ford, Sprint, Volkswagen, Budweiser, Yahoo and Reebok, and music videos for artists including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, All American Rejects, Weezer and Kid Rock. Curreri’s work for My Chemical Romance earned him a Music Video Production Association Award for “Best Colorist.” Previously based in Los Angeles, Curreri relocated to the Motor City, where he will serve Company 3 clients in that region.

“I’ve spent a great deal of time working closely with Detroit-based clients, particularly in the automotive industry,” Curreri noted. “I’ve grown extremely fond of the Detroit community, so I eagerly accepted the opportunity to join Company 3 Detroit. I’m excited to be part of the Company 3 family once again.”

Curreri began his postproduction career as a music video colorist in the early ‘90s. Over the subsequent two decades, he built an impressive portfolio of work, collaborating with some of the industry’s most talented directors and cinematographers while at Company 3, R!ot and The Syndicate. Just before re-joining Company 3, Curreri worked as a freelance digital intermediate artist for feature films, music videos and commercials, most recently on the Foo Fighters HBO documentary series Sonic Highways, directed by Dave Grohl.

Post boutique Hooligan has signed editor Tom Schachte, formerly of Wild(child). His body of work spans commercials, branded content, TV shows and documentaries. Schachte has collaborated with such directors over the years as Elma Garcia, Raymond Bark, Scott Duncan and Marcus Stevens. The editor’s reel includes brands such as AOL, AT&T, eBay, Hasbro, Moviefone, Royal Caribbean Special Olympics, Toyota and Verizon.

Educated in Manchester by way of Penn State University, Schachte’s entertainment career embarked as an intern at BBC News. The network eventually turned him loose to cover rock festivals with his Bolex camera. Returning stateside, a 24-year-old Schachte soon found himself heading the editorial department of a Southeast production company. He then spent the next five years working on a CBS children’s show which garnered several Emmy nominations.

Schachte discovered his passion for cutting commercials after heading to Los Angeles to continue his filmmaking career. Honing his craft under legendary editor Jacques Dury, he solidified his niche in advertising before going on to launch Straight Cut. From Budweiser to Boeing, Schachte worked with assorted brands and agencies during his company’s 16-year run. Blue Rock ultimately recruited him back to New York, where he has lived ever since. After a lengthy tenure at BlueRock, he joined Wild(child) in 2012.
