Ad Industry Nominees Unveiled For 23rd Annual Webby Awards

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) has unveiled the nominees for the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Among those advertising industry companies recognized this year are Code and Theory, Condé Nast, Duolingo, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Jung von Matt AG, Mattel, McCann, Meta, Publicis Media GmbH, R/GA, Saatchi & Saatchi, Snapchat, Squarespace, TBWA\ Media Arts Lab, and The Kitchen North America. 

All nominees are eligible to win two of the Internet industry’s leading honors: The Webby Award, selected by the Academy, and The Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by the online community. Voting for The Webby People’s Voice Awards is open now through Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:59pm PDT.

The contenders for this year’s coveted Agency of the Year are companies with the highest number of Webby Award nominations across all categories. Leading the nominees are BASIC/DEPT® (15), Jung von Matt AG (13), DEPT® (12), and TBWA\ Media Arts Lab (10).

Alongside Agency of the Year, this year’s Webbys will also recognize Production Company of the Year. Companies currently in the running include: Media.Monks (7), Church Edit (6), Mss ng Peces (5), O Positive (4), Tool (4), and Modern Post (3).

As Artificial Intelligence continues to alter how we connect with those around us, consume entertainment, and learn about the world, brands and agencies are utilizing these new technologies with innovative projects like Fenty Beauty + Skin Experience (Sawhorse Productions), Gucci Cosmos Land in the Sandbox (Gucci), Whitney Museum of American Art--Inaugural Immersive Art Experience (Design Bridge and Partners) and NASA’s Immersive Earth (NASA).

Brands continued to capitalize on the world’s biggest names to drive creative partnerships, tapping into larger audiences and cementing themselves in the cultural conversation. Stand out collaborations include: Vote.org + Taylor Swift on National Voter Registration Day (Vote.org), The Cheesecake Factory x Travis Kelce: Fashion Icons (EssenceMediacom), Ford x Sydney Sweeney (Wieden + Kennedy),  Sphere x F1 LVGP (Sphere), The Walking Dead x Visit Seattle (PB&), Snoop Dogg x Solo Stove: Snoop Goes Smokeless (The Martin Agency), Amaury Guichon’s Whimsical Wonka Suitcase (Warner Bros. Webby nominees are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Creative agencies are also entertaining, educating and inspiring the industry in new ways with nominated podcasts in the Creativity & Marketing category, which include: Design Better (The Curiosity Department), Icons in the Making (Lippincott), Riveted (Godfrey Dadich Partners), Soul & Science Podcast (Mekanism) and Unleash Your Inner Creative with Lauren LoGrasso (Lauren LoGrasso Productions LLC). 

Network of the Year will also be presented at this year’s Webby Awards. The following networks that earned more Webby Awards nominations across all categories are in contention: DEPT® (27), Stagwell (23), TBWA Worldwide (19), Accenture (17) and Wieden+Kennedy (17).

With nearly 13,000 entries from over 70 countries around the world and a record number of Social Media submissions, this year’s competition was extremely competitive. From the tens of thousands of global entries submitted, fewer than 12% were selected as nominees. 

Winners for The 28th Annual Webby Awards will be announced on Tuesday, April 23, and will be celebrated at a star-studded in-person award show on Monday, May 13, hosted by Amber Ruffin at Cipriani Wall Street.
