The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) has unveiled the nominees for The 24th Annual Webby Awards dubbed Webbys From Home by event organizers.  Among those recognized this year in the Advertising, Media & PR categories are BBDO New York, McCann New York, R/GA, & Co., Wieden+Kennedy, Leo Burnett, Grey, Droga5, Denkwerk, GSD&M, Elephant, Dept, The Monkeys, Kolle Rebbe, Work & Co, and 72andSunny.

The contenders for this year’s Agency of the Year are those agencies that earned more Webby Awards and nominations across all categories than any other agency. Leading the nominees are BBDO New York with 21 nominations. They are joined by Droga5 (18 Nominations), R/GA (13 Nominations), McCann New York (12 Nominations), BASIC (10 Nominations), Wieden+Kennedy (9 Nominations), denkwerk GmbH (9 Nominations), Goodby Silverstein & Partners (9 Nominations), and TBWAMedia Arts Lab (8 Nominations).

WFH: Webbys From Home will culminate with a celebration that will not only honor this year’s best Internet work, but also those outstanding individuals and organizations who are using the Internet to respond to the incredible difficulties imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Without the Internet, we would all be lost right now. It’s the most powerful tool for us to support and uplift one another, and it’s no surprise that this year’s Advertising Nominees are the brands, agencies, and media that are creating powerful work to do just that,” said Claire Graves, executive director of The Webby Awards. “This year, they made some of the smartest campaigns we’ve ever seen. That creativity and ingenuity was a springboard for how they have responded to the global pandemic by using the Internet to connect, inform, entertain, and help people all over the world.”

All nominees are eligible to win the Internet industry’s two most prestigious awards: The Webby Award, selected by the Academy, and The Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by Internet fans around the world. Voting for The Webby People’s Voice Awards is open now until Thursday, May 7, at 11:59 PM (PT). During this period, the Webby Awards is working with Vote.org to use its platform to host one of the largest digital registration rallies of 2020 for an expected five million participants. From public voting, through the winner’s announcement, all members of the Webby community will have the opportunity to confirm their voter registration status to help make voter turnout in the 2020 election the biggest in U.S. history.

So many brands and campaigns were dedicated to making an impact in the world, The Webbys saw powerful public service and activism and CSR work that helped shine a light on pressing issues, including nominees: Microsoft’s “Changing the Game” (McCann New York), Columbia Journalism Review’s “Covering Climate Now” (TBWA\Chiat\Day), Plan International’s “Walk Like a Woman” (Cummins&Partners), Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand’s “Pre-Check” (Colenso BBDO),  AT&T’s “It Can Wait--A Message to Live For” (Courageous Studios), Volvo’s “The E.V.A. Initiative” (Forsman & Bodenfors), Dove’s “Project #ShowUs” (Publicis Sapient) and The New York Times’ “The Truth is Worth It” (Droga5).

Noteworthy campaigns combined incredible creative concepts with the innovative use of tech and media platforms to deliver unforgettable and engaging advertising experiences. Nominees include Tinder’s “Swipe Night” (72andSunny), BMW’s “The Small Escape” (Jung Von Matt AG), Nike PLAYlist (R/GA), Apple’s “The Surprise” (TBWA/Media Arts Lab), The Dali Museum’s “Dalí Lives” (Goodby Silverstein and Partners), Twitch’s “Meet Your New Twitch” (Elephant), ANA Airline’s “GAME CHRONICLE” (Enjin Toyko), Jack In the Box’s “Fuel House” (David & Goliath), Gatorade Highlights (Work & Co), Taco Bell’s “Chasing Gold” (Deutsch), Meet & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) “New Australia Land” (The Monkeys), Puma: Run My Way (MediaMonks), OREO x Wiz Khalifa (The Martin Agency), The DKMS IMG’s (bone marrow donation) “Ultimate Limited Edition: Life” (denkwerk GmbH), JFK Library’s “JFK Moonshot” (Digitas), The Tate’s “Untold Stories” (The Mill), and Airbnb China’s “More of Less” (Anomaly Shanghai).
