On the second night of the Creative Arts Emmys when the focus was on variety show categories, among the leading winners were Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: All In The Family And Good Times (ABC), Saturday Night Live (NBC), and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO).

SNL was named Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, taking a total of three Emmys on the evening, the other two coming in the Variety Series Directing (Don Roy King) and Production Design for a Variety, Reality or Competition Series (Akira Yoshimura, Keith Ian Raywood, N. Joseph DeTullio) categories.

Also scoring three Creative Arts Emmys was Last Week Tonight With John Oliver for Writing (Oliver, Tim Carvell, Daniel O’Brien, Owen Parsons, Charlie Redd, Joanna Rothkopf, Ben Silva and Seena Vali), Picture Editing (Ryan Barger) and Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series.

Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: All In The Family And Good Times won the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) Emmy, and topped the Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Special category.

Also garnering two wins apiece during the evening--the second of five Creative Arts Awards ceremonies--were the Oscars telecast (ABC) and RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1). The latter won for Contemporary Makeup and Contemporary Hairstyling while the Oscars took honors for Production Design for a Variety Special, and Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special.

Two more virtual Creative Arts Emmy Award ceremonies remain--tomorrow and Thursday (9/16-17), as well as a Saturday (9/19) telecast on FXX. All five installments of the Creative Arts Emmys are hosted by Nicole Byer of Nailed It! (Netflix). The primetime Emmy Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday (9/20) hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and airing on ABC.
