"Minari" Wins 3 NY Film Critics Online Awards, Including Best Picture

"Promising Young Woman" also scores 3 honors--best actress, debut director and screenplay

Topping the New York Film Critics Online Awards with three wins apiece were Minari and Promising Young Woman.

Minari took the marquee best picture honor, supporting actress (Young Yuh-jung who tied with Ellen Burstyn for Pieces of a Woman) and best foreign language film.

Emerald Fennell topped the debut director and screenplay categories for Promising Young Woman, with Carey Mulligan winning for best actress.

Best director and cinematography went, respectively, to Chloé Zhao and Joshua James Richards for Nomadland.

Riz Ahmed won best actor for Sound of Metal. Earning best supporting actor distinction was Leslie Odom Jr. for One Night in Miami.

Another tie came in the breakthrough performer category--Maria Bakalova for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Kingsley Ben-Adir for One Night in Miami.

The best ensemble honor went to the cast of The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Branford Marsalis won for best use of music based on Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The Way I See It was named best documentary while Soul took the best animated feature mantle.
