Director Jill Greenberg Joins Greencard for Commercial Representation
NEW YORK --

Independent creative studio Greencard has signed pop artist, photographer and filmmaker Jill Greenberg for North American representation on commercial and branded projects.

Greenberg has been telling stories with images professionally for close to 30 years and is best known for her portraiture of celebrities, animals and children that captures subjects’ strikingly resonant emotions which in turn elicit emotional response in viewers. She’s also known for developing innovative lighting techniques, and one of them has even been dubbed the “Jill Greenberg Effect.” This glowy, expressive, hyper-real portraiture style is studied in colleges and universities.

Greenberg’s fine art is widely known. There’s the expressive, humanistic “Monkey Portraits” series; “End Times,” a photo collection of crying toddlers that was perceived as controversial; and “Glass Ceiling,” in which synchronized swimmers in high heels are photographed underwater as they try to break through the surface. She has also created iconic marketing campaigns for entertainment properties such as Dexter, Orange Is the New Black and The Handmaid’s Tale and has shot high-profile celebrity portraits for magazines.

Greenberg’s growing film portfolio contains consumer and entertainment marketing pieces. She has worked for influential advertising agencies, creating spots and content for Pilot Pens, Hasbro, Wyndham, HBO and EPIX, and she also helmed a narrative digital pilot for Fox. Her most recent project is a campaign for Plus, a California company that makes cannabis-infused edibles. The print and broadcast work, which she collaborated on with advertising agency bttr, has just launched.

Some of her work is socio-political. Recently, she won a Best Narrative short at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Film Festival for Honeypot, a short film inspired by the police-sting recording of Harvey Weinstein and Ambra Gutierrez.

“We knew we wanted to sign Jill as soon as we met her--her prolific career as an artist and photographer makes her a unique resource for our clients,” said Emily Wiedemann, Greencard founder and senior executive producer. “Her ability to elicit just the right emotion from her cast is uncanny, and her expertise in lighting and composition can only come from years of experience as a professional photographer. We are thrilled to be supporting Jill as she continues her fast-rising career as director.”

Greencard is repped in the East and West Coasts by Carolyn Hill, and in the Midwest by Kitty Monaghan.
