The most engaging publicity news releases on the SHOOT Publicity Wire (SPW) in 2019 range from Territory Studios’ deployment of Maxon resources towards the creation of graphics for the Marvel Studios hit feature Avengers: Endgame, to the unveiling of the AICP Post Awards Shortlist, a look at Sony Pictures Post Production Services’ work on sound production for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a report on the winners of The One Club for Creativity’s global ADC 98th Annual Awards, and the launch of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) TechFest.

Topping the SPW rundown was a Maxon Q&A with Marti Romances, creative director and co-founder of Territory Studio San Francisco which contributed more than 40 3D data screen graphics visualizations to the Marvel Studios hit feature film, Avengers: Endgame.

Finishing second in the SPW views tally was the release of the shortlist for the 2019 AICP Post Awards honoring excellence in a range of post crafts including editing, color grading, audio mixing, sound design, VFX, CGI, animation and design. Leading the list of artists with the most items on the Shortlist was editor William Town of Modern Post, with five total entries. This included work in the categories of Editorial: Fashion/Beauty (for Tiffany & Co.), Editorial: Monologue/Spoken Word (for G-Star) and Editorial: Music Video (for A$AP Rocky). In addition, Town and Modern Post editor Graham Patterson were co-nominated twice for their work in the Editorial: National Campaign category (for Levi’s and Maison Margiela).

Taking third place in our rundown was a look at Sony Pictures Post Production Services work on sound production for Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animations’ feature film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.  Heading the project were award-winning supervising sound editors Geoffrey G. Rubay and Curt Schulkey and re-recording mixers Michael Semanick and Tony Lamberti. Their charge was to deliver a soundtrack as innovative, richly-textured and engrossing as the film’s groundbreaking, revolutionary imagery.

Fourth place went to coverage of a three-spot campaign from Atlanta agency Brunner deploying CGI beavers for Great Southern Wood Preserving’s YellaWood.

Landing in fifth place in number of SPW views was a report on results of The One Club for Creativity’s global ADC 98th Annual Awards ceremony in NYC. Among the big winners were TBWA ad agencies as well as Droga5’s “The Truth Is Worth It” for the New York Times, which took the Black Cube best-of-show honor.

Settling in sixth place was news that editor Jessica Mutascio had joined Whitehouse Post New York,  marking a return to the states for the Boston-based artist after spending a decade cutting in Australia, most recently with The Editors in Sydney.

Generating the seventh highest total of views in our countdown was the work of composer Fred Story and Concentrix Music on the original score for the lauded documentary Robert Shaw: Man of Many Voices, which aired on PBS’ American Masters series.

Ending up eighth was the launch by Episode Four, a NYC agency, of a massive integrated campaign designed to bring new energy and creativity to Charles Schwab’s golf sponsorship efforts coinciding with its debut as title sponsor on The PGA Tour. The work for the “Charles Schwab Challenge” remixed the rich history of The Colonial tournament with the Charles Schwab challenger brand attributes to engage audiences, helping to drive up attendance at the event as well as CBS’ Sunday ratings by eight percent over the previous year.

Nestled in the ninth slot was the American Cinema Editors unveiling of its newest educational technology event: ACE TechFest (LA). During the half-day event, editors and post team members were able to access users, experts and new products in a limited-seats-available environment offering all the info of a major trade show without the hassle, travel and overcrowding.

And rounding out SPW’s top ten for 2019 was The Shipyard’s “Future of Energy” campaign for American Electric Power, delving into the company’s commitment to and investment in cleaner forms of energy (wind, solar, natural gas) as well as a more advanced and efficient electricity grid.
