D5in10, Droga5’s free, 10-week course designed to teach creators of all disciplines the essence of advertising concepting, building campaigns, art direction, copywriting and more, is returning for a third year which will begin in February 2021, this time virtually. D5in10’s first go-around took place in 2017, hosting 20 high-potential creatives from a mix of racial, cultural and professional backgrounds. Now the tradition continues as Droga5 is opening up applications for year three. The goal is to find people with a creative spark who hadn’t necessarily figured out where to apply their talents, had the opportunity to build a portfolio in advertising school or gotten a foot in the door at an ad agency to some capacity. D5in10 is designed to get them started in advertising by providing them with the tools to succeed through hands-on instruction from Droga5 creatives. One of the biggest outcomes of the D5in10 Academy is that students now have a greater sense of confidence and structure in how they approach their creative work, regardless of whether or not they choose to pursue a job in the field of advertising. The program has been such a success with several students moving on to creative industry-related careers at companies such as DDB, Publicis, SJR and more. A few former D5in10 students even joined Droga5 as full-time employees including Stacy-Ann Ellis who is one of the creatives behind recent work for The New York Times. Applicants for the program don’t need an advertising portfolio. They do need to show where and who they are creatively, sharing whatever creative output best represents them. Andrew Thorn has joined Ogilvy Health as EVP, head of planning. Thorn will be responsible for overseeing and managing Ogilvy Health’s planning, strategy, analytics, and experience teams. With more than 25 years of experience in healthcare marketing, he has spent the greater part of that time working across multiple disciplines, including planning, engagement, development, behavioral science, analytics, art, technology, and operations. Thorn most recently tenured with W2O Group as managing director in strategy and prior to that held roles at FCB Trio, Vogel Farina, Saatchi and Saatchi Healthcare, and Harrison & Star....
