The American Film Institute (AFI) has partnered with AMC Networks to establish the Black Production Fund which will provide grants for thesis productions by Black Fellows in their second year at the AFI Conservatory. The Black Production Fund, along with the recently announced Thomas P. Pollock Endowed Scholarship for promising diverse AFI Producing Fellows, is part of AFI’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives dedicated to increasing Black voices in storytelling.

British regulators said Friday that Instagram will clamp down on "hidden advertising" by social media influencers. 

The Competition and Markets Authority said Instagram's owner Facebook has committed to tightening policies to restrict influencers who don't disclose they're being paid to promote businesses on its platform. 

It's part of an investigation into the influencer industry the watchdog launched two years ago. Regulators are concerned that Instagram wasn't doing enough under consumer protection laws to stop hidden advertising, which is illegal in the U.K. They want to make it harder to mislead people with posts that aren't labeled as ads. 

Influencers are online personalities with thousands of followers who can earn hefty fees from brands for endorsing or reviewing their products or services.

Atlanta police announced Friday that they have made an arrest in the shooting death of actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd.

Homicide detectives on Wednesday obtained an warrant for the arrest of 30-year-old Antonio Demetrice Rhynes on a felony murder charge based on evidence and tips from the public, and officers arrested him early Friday morning, Officer Steve Avery said in an email. 

Rhynes will be taken to the Fulton County jail once he's processed, Avery said. It wasn't immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his arrest.

Best known for his roles in Spike Lee films, Byrd was found dead around 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 3 near his home in southwest Atlanta. He had been shot multiple times in the back. A $10,000 reward had been offered for information leading to an arrest.

Watch out for Britney Spears and the Jonas Bros.: CBS News is building a new high-tech election night set in the Times Square studio where MTV's "Total Request Live" ruled the music world two decades ago.

The set, at the ViacomCBS headquarters on Broadway, highlights modern wizardry like "augmented reality" 3-D images and multiple data screens while offering enough roominess to protect staff members from being infected with COVID-19, the network said on Thursday.

The advertisement by the popular Indian jewelry brand featured a Muslim man and his Hindu wife preparing for a Hindu-style baby shower. Its tagline read: "A beautiful confluence of two different religions, traditions and cultures."

The One Club for Creativity (TOCC) has entered into a merger agreement with the Type Directors Club (TDC), the global typography organization.

The move brings the TDC under TOCC umbrella, providing resources and infrastructure to broaden and grow its programming and placing new emphasis on promoting diversity and inclusion in the global typography community.  

The merger was approved in a vote by boards and membership of both organizations, and is now pending approval by the New York State Attorney General’s office.

Namesake, a production company with deep and established roots in Utah, has expanded its capabilities with the launch of a Los Angeles division. 

Although the non-union company officially opened in 2018, the origins of Namesake came into play over a decade ago when Julian Acosta and Cole Webley met in film school in Salt Lake City. Starting out shooting local projects together, as their respective careers rose over the years they grew to nurture a collective of directors.
