What’s your take on the Motion Picture Academy inviting 683 new members to its ranks with an eye toward increasing diversity?

A positive step in that the invitees have 46% female and 41% ethnic minority representation spanning 59 countries.

It’s a politically correct move but it remains to be seen if it will yield progressive reform.

A good step that needs some context--this new class would bring the Academy membership up to only 27% female and 11% non-white.
