    BURBANK, Calif. --

Rob McHenry has been named head of ventures for Sphere Entertainment (NYSE: SPHR), effective May 4.

In this role, Mr. McHenry will lead Sphere’s frontier technology initiatives, identifying and developing disruptive technologies that drive Sphere toward new immersive experiences and beyond. Reporting to Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, McHenry will help define Sphere’s innovation agenda, evaluate and pursue strategic investments, and lead the development of rapid prototypes to explore new concepts. He will work closely across engineering, product, content, and business teams, as well as Sphere Studios, to develop and implement these advanced technologies.

“Innovation is at the core of everything we do at Sphere,” said Dolan. “Rob’s experience exploring advanced technologies and turning them into real-world capabilities will be an asset as we continue to push the boundaries of immersive experiences at Sphere.”

“Sphere is an example of what is possible when disruptive vision and advanced technology are brought together to make something fundamentally new,” said McHenry. “I look forward to working with the Sphere leadership team to explore the frontiers of immersive technology, experiment boldly, and build a pipeline that redefines the power of the shared experience.”

McHenry is the former deputy director and acting director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)–the innovation engine behind generations of world-changing technologies. He led overall strategy, technical diligence, and operations for the $4B agency with a portfolio averaging 300 programs spanning basic science, biotech, microelectronics, quantum technologies, cyber and AI, strategic systems, and operational prototyping.

Prior to DARPA, McHenry advised SilverLining on strategies at the intersection of atmospheric science and national security. His previous experience also includes being the founder and CEO of Bright Silicon Technologies, where he pioneered the commercialization of advanced optical control technology, and serving as the COO at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) driving reliable business models to deliver disruptive innovation. Earlier in his career he was a program manager at DARPA, launching and leading several landmark technology programs. McHenry began his career as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.

McHenry received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Chaka Khan and Vince Gill enter National Recording Registry

    Thursday, May 14, 2026

Albums and songs from Taylor Swift,Beyoncé, Chaka Khan and The Go-Go's are joining America's audio canon.

The new inductees into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress include Swift's blockbuster 2014 pop album "1989," Beyoncé's era-defining 2008 anthem "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," Khan's genre-blending hit "I Feel for You," Vince Gill's emotional ballad "Go Rest High on That Mountain" and The Go-Go's groundbreaking debut album "Beauty and the Beat."

They were among the 25 recordings entering the archive in the class of 2026, acting Librarian of Congress Robert Newlen announced Thursday. The selections were chosen for their "cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage."

"Music and recorded sound are essential, wonderful parts of our daily lives and our national heritage," Newlen said in a statement. "The National Recording Registry works to preserve our national playlist for generations to come."

Other recordings entering the registry include Ray Charles' groundbreaking country crossover album "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music," Reba McEntire's "Rumor Has It," Rosanne Cash's "The Wheel" and Weezer's self-titled debut known as "The Blue Album."

Classic singles from Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Byrds, José Feliciano and Paul Anka also earned inclusion.

Among the more unconventional selections are the soundtrack to the influential 1993 video game "Doom" and the radio broadcast of "The Fight of the Century," the legendary 1971 heavyweight boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

The oldest recording in this year's class is Spike Jones and His City Slickers' 1944 single "Cocktails for Two." The newest is Swift's... Read More
