Creative editorial company The Den has promoted rostered editor Ryan Spears to partner in its New York office. The company has also brought LauRenn Reed on board as New York executive producer. Spears joins partners Katie Cali and Tobias Suhm, alongside co-founders Christjan Jordan and Rachel Seitel. Reed meanwhile will collaborate with The Den team to strengthen the shop’s bicoastal presence.
Spears, a four-time Creative Arts Emmy nominee, has been behind some of Saturday Night Live’s most talked-about sketches, including the Barbie send-up “I’m Just Pete,” “HBO Mario Kart” with Pedro Pascal, and “Couplabeers” with Shane Gillis. Earlier this month, Spears took home an Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming for his work on a segment of the SNL50: The Anniversary Special. Since joining The Den in 2023, he’s brought his creative and comedic talent to commercial campaigns for brands like PayPal, GEICO, and Old Spice, often collaborating with comedians such as Will Ferrell and Kate McKinnon.
Reed began her career on the agency side before moving into production, first in motion graphics and VFX and later into editorial, where she found her true home. She has produced work for brands including Nike, Doritos, Coca-Cola, Pinterest, and Ford. At The Den, she’ll focus on building client relationships, supporting New York’s editorial team, and fostering the collaborative culture the company is known for.
The Den co-founder Seitel said, “Ryan’s comedic instincts are absolutely brilliant, and he thrives in those high-pressure moments that would make anyone else sweat. And LauRenn brings such positive energy–you feel it right away. She knows this business inside and out, and her creative sensibilities are incredibly spot-on.”
