    LOS ANGELES --

Creative studio Significant Others NY has expanded with the launch of a Santa Monica office. Significant Others LA will be led by creative director Thomas “Thom” Reimerink.

The new studio launched with Coldplay’s music video “All My Love” from their 10th studio album, Moon Music, directed by Spike Jonze, with Reimerink serving as VFX lead. This debut was quickly followed by a major campaign for Expedia.

The decision to expand Significant Others’ offering to the West Coast comes in response to a growing demand for its work out of Los Angeles and the need for a physical location to support this expansion. Located within sister shop Final Cut’s Santa Monica offices, Significant Others is capitalizing on its close relationship with editorial–offering an integrated, seamless postproduction experience.

Reimerink brings extensive experience from his time as co-founder of Little Farm Productions, where he led VFX and finishing for major campaigns with brands such as Nike, Google, Mazda, Burger King, Honda, and YouTube. Working alongside Reimerink is VFX supervisor and Flame artist Phil Apostol, whose credits include campaigns for Coca-Cola, Pringles, Starbucks, and Meta, as well as high-profile collaborations with musicians including Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, and Dave Grohl. Apostol joined Significant Others in 2022 from Therapy Studios.

“Final Cut already has such a strong reputation on the West Coast,” said Final Cut LA managing director Suzy Ramirez. “Being able to welcome our West Coast clients in person at Significant Others LA, and to bring Thom Reimerink’s incredible technical expertise into each project, has truly elevated what we can offer. Thom is a remarkable talent–his presence has taken our capabilities to a whole new level, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.”

William Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage join the voice cast for Starburn Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo”

Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage have joined the voice cast of Starburns Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo,” based on acclaimed author George Saunders’ New York Times bestseller and 2017 Booker Prize-winner.  Saunders adapted the screenplay, with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson directing.  It was announced earlier that Tom Hanks stars as the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in the live action portion of the film.  CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling sales at the upcoming TIFF: The Market.

The film employs a unique blend of stop-motion animation and live action to explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centering on his relationship with his recently deceased eleven-year-old son.  Blending history and imagination, the story unfolds through an unforgettable ensemble of characters – living and dead, historical and invented – to explore themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity for connection in the face of unimaginable grief.

Reverend Everly Thomas – the ghost of a minister who died believing he would go to heaven, but, to his dismay, found out otherwise – is voiced by Dafoe.  Bailey is voicing Roger Bevins, the ghost of a young gay man who took his own life over a failed love affair and instantly regretted it.  Dinklage is voicing Hans Vollman, a ghost obsessed with his dream of being reunited with his much-younger wife.

Four-time Academy Award nominee Dafoe’s credits include animated films “Finding Nemo,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Boy and the Heron,” as well as “At Eternity’s Gate,” “The Florida Project,” “Shadow of the Vampire” and seminal Vietnam movie... Read More
