    LOS ANGELES --

Globe trotting director and multidisciplinary artist Reza Dolatabadi has joined forces with Jorge Aguilera and Ale Saevich, founders of the production company Madrefoca in Mexico City, to launch NOBORDER, an animation and design studio with bases of operation in Los Angeles, Mexico City and London. Rooted in decades of high-level experience across the U.K., U.S. and Latin America, the new venture is built to deliver animation and design, immersive experiences and cutting-edge live show visuals for entertainment, brands and cultural institutions worldwide.

Dolatabadi has directed major live show visuals for icons such as U2, Cyndi Lauper, and Lionel Richie, in addition to collaborations with Formula 1, AAA video games, Aston Martin, and other leading global brands. His ability to seamlessly blend animation, live action, and design has made him a sought-after creative voice in the live performance space. Earlier in his career, he was represented globally by ETC.

Dolatabadi said of the NOBORDER moniker, “If we were going to push boundaries, we needed a place without them.” At NOBORDER, Dolatabadi leads the creative vision, and Aguilera and Saevich provide the production backbone. The Madrefoca founders bring a combined background that spans award-winning films, commercials, and exclusive brand content. The studio principals are backed by a multicultural team and a deep bench of global talent.

“We’re lean, agile, and used to working at the highest level,” said Aguilera. “We’ve built something that adapts to the scope of any project — with uncompromising craft.”

“NOBORDER is where explosive creativity meets structure and discipline,” added Saevich. “We’re a boutique shop that delivers like the majors. This is the future of creative collaboration.”

Aguilera and Saevich also continue to be partnered with executive producer Jonathon Ker in the L.A.-based MADRE, a bilingual house which offers a fresh creative and production perspective born from the Latin gaze. MADRE was launched back in 2023.

William Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage join the voice cast for Starburn Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo”

Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage have joined the voice cast of Starburns Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo,” based on acclaimed author George Saunders’ New York Times bestseller and 2017 Booker Prize-winner.  Saunders adapted the screenplay, with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson directing.  It was announced earlier that Tom Hanks stars as the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in the live action portion of the film.  CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling sales at the upcoming TIFF: The Market.

The film employs a unique blend of stop-motion animation and live action to explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centering on his relationship with his recently deceased eleven-year-old son.  Blending history and imagination, the story unfolds through an unforgettable ensemble of characters – living and dead, historical and invented – to explore themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity for connection in the face of unimaginable grief.

Reverend Everly Thomas – the ghost of a minister who died believing he would go to heaven, but, to his dismay, found out otherwise – is voiced by Dafoe.  Bailey is voicing Roger Bevins, the ghost of a young gay man who took his own life over a failed love affair and instantly regretted it.  Dinklage is voicing Hans Vollman, a ghost obsessed with his dream of being reunited with his much-younger wife.

Four-time Academy Award nominee Dafoe’s credits include animated films “Finding Nemo,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Boy and the Heron,” as well as “At Eternity’s Gate,” “The Florida Project,” “Shadow of the Vampire” and seminal Vietnam movie... Read More
