    LOS ANGELES --

George Clooney will present the Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) Lifetime Achievement Award to his longtime friend, Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated production designer Jim Bissell, at the 19th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards. The announcement was made by ADG Council Chairman Marcia Hinds and ADG Awards producers Dave Blass and James Pearse Connelly. The presentation will take place at a black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, January 31.

Clooney is a two-time Oscar winner, as supporting actor in Syriana and as a producer of the 2013 best motion picture Argo. He has won five Golden Globes for Argo (2012), The Descendants (2011), Syriana (2005) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). One of Hollywood’s leading men on screen and behind the camera, he is the 2015 recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, an honorary Golden Globe for his contribution to cinema. His upcoming projects include directing Sony Pictures’ Hack Attack and executive producing Showtime’s The Studio with Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan.

Clooney’s collaboration with production designer Bissell began in 2002 with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, followed by the Oscar-nominated Good Night, and Good Luck (2005), Leatherheads (2007) and most recently The Monuments Men (2014), starring Matt Damon, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett.

Bissell’s impressive credits include E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), as well as The Rocketeer (1991), Jumanji (1995), 300 (2006) and Mission: Impossible–Ghost Protocol (2011). He’s been awarded a Primetime Emmy for Palmerstown, U.S.A. (shared with Bill Webb, 1980), an Oscar nomination and Satellite Award win for Good Night, and Good Luck (shared with Jan Pascale, 2005) and additional nominations from the ADG, BAFTA and LAFCA Awards.

As previously announced, filmmaker Christopher Nolan will receive the prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award. Lifetime Achievement Awards will be awarded for the first time in ADG history to all four crafts. Joining Bissell as a recipient of this prestigious award will be Camille Abbott (illustrator and matte artist), John P. Bruce (set designer) and Will Ferrell (scenic artist).

Additional presenters include Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Julie Bowen and Mayim Bialik.

Nominations for this year’s ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards were announced on January 5, 2015. The complete list of nominees can be viewed here. Winners in 11 competitive categories will be revealed on January 31.

Actor Anthony Head, known for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Ted Lasso,” dies at 72

Anthony Head, the suave, smooth-voiced British actor known for roles in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Ted Lasso," has died, his family said Friday. He was 72.

Head's daughters, actors Emily and Daisy Head, told the Press Association news agency that the actor passed away due to complications from pneumonia.

The stage and TV performer became well known to British audiences in the 1980s as one half of a will-they, won't-they romantic couple in a series of ads for Nescafe Gold Blend instant coffee. The ads were later re-shot for a U.S. audience for Taster's Choice.

Head achieved wider fame as librarian Rupert Giles, mentor to the title character in the cult-favorite supernatural series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which ran from 1997 to 2003.

He most recently played Rupert Mannion, the villainous ex-husband of Hannah Waddingham's character Rebecca, in "Ted Lasso."

"Our grief is far greater than the hole he has left behind, but we know his legacy will live on, in the shows he was a part of, and in the audiences that love them," his daughters said. "How lucky we are to know we are able to watch him doing what he loved, even when he is no longer with us."

Head was born in London on Feb. 20, 1954 to Seafield Head, a documentary filmmaker, and Helen Shingler, an actor. His older brother, Murray, is also an actor.

Other notable roles included playing Geoffrey Howe, the deputy to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, played by Meryl Streep, in the Oscar-winning "The Iron Lady."

Head portrayed a prime minister himself in the sketch comedy show "Little Britain," as well as King Uther Pendragon, the father of Prince Arthur, in the "Merlin" TV series. He also appeared in "Motherland," Manchild," and "Silent Witness," along... Read More
