Jury is set for The One Club’s “Get Out the Vote” brief for young creatives

    "Get Out the Vote"
    NEW YORK --

The One Club for Creativity has set the global jury for the first Young Ones “Get Out the Vote” brief competition, a new free global challenge calling on undergraduate college students around the world to come up with campaigns to drive voter participation.

The One Club has a long history of creative activism projects that invite creatives to use their talents to address important causes. The latest such initiative is the “Get Out the Vote” brief, from the club’s Young One Student Awards and Education department. The brief is global and nonpartisan in its politics, favoring no specific candidate, party, or belief. The only objective is to increase overall voter participation in elections around the world.

Creative leaders confirmed to serve on the “Get Out The Vote” jury include:

–Nanako Abe, Creative Director, Innovation Lead, Droga5 Tokyo
–Tomas Almuna, CCO, The Plan, Santiago
–Hamza Amjad, CCO, South Asia & Middle East, Alt Story, Lahore
–Belén Arregui, Senior Creative, Activist, Springtime, Quito
–David DeCheser, Global CCO, Valtech, New York
–Yan Esteves, Creative Director, Head of Art, LePub, São Paulo
–Herman Ibanez, Head of Art and Design, Ogilvy New York
–Juan Isaza, Global Lead, Creative Effectiveness, Omnicom, Dallas
–Katrina Juane, Multimedia Arts Chairperson, College of St. Benilde, Manila
–Thomas Hongtack Kim, CCO, Paulus Seoul
–Michelle Lee, Partner, Managing Director, IDEO, San Francisco
–Tracy Lee, Global Strategist, Strategic Lead, Creatives for Climate & Every Kiwi Vote Counts, London
–Marie Claire Maalouf, CCO, Edelman EMEA, Dubai
–Brian Njagi, Creative Director, The Bar Africa, Nairobi
–Ryan Sherman, Global Creative Director, Podimo, Copenhagen
–Shruthi Subramaniam, ECD, BBDO India, Mumbai
–Haywood Watkins III, ECD, Giant Spoon, Richmond
–Stephanie Yung, Chief Design Officer, Zulu Alpha Kilo, New York

Many of the judges have served on juries for The One Club’s global One Show and Art Directors Club ADC Annual Awards. By entering, students have the rare opportunity to get their work in front of these top-level senior creative leaders.

“Democracy only works when people participate,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO, The One Club for Creativity. “Gen Z has an extraordinary opportunity to help shape the world they will inherit, and voting is one of the most powerful ways to do that. This competition isn’t about telling young people who to vote for or what to believe. It’s about reminding them that their voice matters, their vote matters, and participating in democracy is both a right and a responsibility.”
Top entrants win cash prizes totaling $15,000: Grand Prize $5,000, two runners-up win $2,500 each, and five finalists each receive $1,000.

The competition, which is free to enter, challenges students globally to develop print, video, social media, or activation campaigns that address one of the following categories:

–Participation – Creating A Culture of Voting and Participation
–Relevance – Make Voting Relevant to Culture
–Community – Vote Early, Vote Together

The competition is open for entry to students globally aged 18 or older who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate university program, graduate program, or portfolio program. Recent graduates also are eligible, if their graduation date is no earlier than March 13, 2025. A complete list of eligibility and submission requirements is available on the entry website.

Deadline for entry is August 31, 2026, with winners announced in mid-September. While the brief is a global initiative to drive voter participation in all countries, any winning work entered from the U.S. would run across digital and out-of-home placements during the final stretch of the country’s November mid-term elections.

In addition to receiving cash prizes, winners will also have their work posted on The One Club’s social channels and website, and considered for real-world placement through the club’s Out-of-Home and media partners, including potentially on digital billboards in major high-traffic areas.

William Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage join the voice cast for Starburn Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo”

Actors Willem Dafoe, Jonathan Bailey and Peter Dinklage have joined the voice cast of Starburns Industries’ “Lincoln in the Bardo,” based on acclaimed author George Saunders’ New York Times bestseller and 2017 Booker Prize-winner.  Saunders adapted the screenplay, with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson directing.  It was announced earlier that Tom Hanks stars as the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in the live action portion of the film.  CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling sales at the upcoming TIFF: The Market.

The film employs a unique blend of stop-motion animation and live action to explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centering on his relationship with his recently deceased eleven-year-old son.  Blending history and imagination, the story unfolds through an unforgettable ensemble of characters – living and dead, historical and invented – to explore themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity for connection in the face of unimaginable grief.

Reverend Everly Thomas – the ghost of a minister who died believing he would go to heaven, but, to his dismay, found out otherwise – is voiced by Dafoe.  Bailey is voicing Roger Bevins, the ghost of a young gay man who took his own life over a failed love affair and instantly regretted it.  Dinklage is voicing Hans Vollman, a ghost obsessed with his dream of being reunited with his much-younger wife.

Four-time Academy Award nominee Dafoe’s credits include animated films “Finding Nemo,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Boy and the Heron,” as well as “At Eternity’s Gate,” “The Florida Project,” “Shadow of the Vampire” and seminal Vietnam movie... Read More
