    LONDON --

National Geographic hosted the premiere of “Limitless: Live Better Now,” the second installment of the acclaimed docuseries “Limitless with Chris Hemsworth” on Thursday July 17 at the ODEON Luxe London Leicester Square Cinema in London, England.  The series will debut on Disney+ and Hulu on August 15 and follows Chris Hemsworth on a bold, new mission to discover how to live better — now. With the help of world-class experts and friends, he’s taking on three epic challenges to uncover science-backed ways that can help us all live longer, better lives right now.

Following an introduction from National Geographic President, Courteney Monroe, guests were treated to the first episode of the series, “Brain Power,” which follows Chris as he takes on the challenge of learning to play the drums — culminating in a surprise live performance with Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 fans. The episode is inspired by the powerful cognitive benefits of mastering a new skill. The screening was followed by an insightful panel with Chris Hemsworth, Abigail Marsh, Maya Shankar and Robbie Madison, Arif Nurmohamed, and Ari Handel. It was moderated by Edith Bowman.

Broadcaster Edith Bowman hosted the event, which was also attended by series contributors neuroscientist Abigail Marsh, cognitive scientist Maya Shankar, freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison and rock climber Percy Bishton, as well as executive producers Jane Root, Tom Watt-Smith, Peter Lovering, Arif Nurmohamed, Ari Handel, Ben Grayson and Brandon Hill. Additional guests in attendance included fitness guru Joe Wicks; TV presenters Dr. Nighat Arif and Dwayne Fields; National Geographic Explorers Ella Al Shamahi, Tamana Ayazi and Natalie Sinclair; and content creators Dujon Anderson and Natalie Long.

Massachusetts court hears arguments in lawsuit alleging Meta designed apps to be addictive to kids

Massachusetts' highest court heard oral arguments Friday in the state's lawsuit arguing that Meta designed features on Facebook and Instagram to make them addictive to young users.

The lawsuit, filed in 2024 by Attorney General Andrea Campbell, alleges that Meta did this to make a profit and that its actions affected hundreds of thousands of teenagers in Massachusetts who use the social media platforms.

"We are making claims based only on the tools that Meta has developed because its own research shows they encourage addiction to the platform in a variety of ways," said State Solicitor David Kravitz, adding that the state's claim has nothing to do the company's algorithms or failure to moderate content.

Meta said Friday that it strongly disagrees with the allegations and is "confident the evidence will show our longstanding commitment to supporting young people." Its attorney, Mark Mosier, argued in court that the lawsuit "would impose liabilities for performing traditional publishing functions" and that its actions are protected by the First Amendment.

"The Commonwealth would have a better chance of getting around the First Amendment if they alleged that the speech was false or fraudulent," Mosier said. "But when they acknowledge that its truthful that brings it in the heart of the First Amendment."

Meta is facing federal and state lawsuits claiming it knowingly designed features — such as constant notifications and the ability to scroll endlessly — that addict children.

In 2023, 33 states filed a joint lawsuit against the Menlo Park, California-based tech giant claiming that Meta routinely collects data on children under 13 without their parents' consent, in violation of federal law. In addition, states including... Read More
