Translation has hired creative duo and executive creative directors Marc d’Avignon and Jay Berry. The copywriter-designer team will play a key role in supporting newly installed chief creative officer John Norman, marking a resumption of their collaboration.
Berry and d’Avignon met in 2005 at Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Ore., where they also first connected with Norman. Their positive experience there led to Berry and d’Avignon reuniting years later with Norman at TBWAChiatDay and now drove the duo’s decision to come aboard Translation as exec CDs.
For a stretch, d’Avignon and Berry went their separate ways starting in 2008. Berry moved on to creative positions at a series of agencies, including BSSP and Anomaly. D’Avignon took up a variety of copywriting gugs, among them a two-year turn at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky. Unable to remain apart, they paired up again at TBWAMedia Arts Lab where they produced work for Apple.
