Talent Lineup Set For AMP Awards

    NEW YORK --

Final preparations for the 2015 AMP Awards for Music and Sound are nearing completion, as the advertising music industry’s 3rd annual awards gala gets set to take the stage at City Winery in New York on May 5.

Show organizers have announced the talent lineup for the event as well as the marketer representatives from Chevrolet and Pepsi who will be on hand as these brands are inducted into the AMP Hall of Fame. Accepting for Chevrolet will be Steve Haener, director, Media, Experiential Marketing & Brand Partnerships, and for Pepsi, Ellen Healy, sr. marketing director, Global Consumer Engagement.  Presenting the Hall of Fame trophies will be Gayle Troberman, chief marketing officer of iHeartMedia, a three-time sponsor of the AMP Awards.

Headlining the talent roster for the event is New Zealand singer-songwriter Gin Wigmore. She’ll be performing along with the Philly-based duo Marian Hill, who are signed to Republic Records, and DJ Prostyle, who appears courtesy of iHeartMedia.

The Association of Music Producers’ annual celebration has become the defining industry forum for the recognition of excellence in music and sound for advertising, branding and media. It has also become a unique showcase for recording artists, who have an opportunity to perform before an audience of advertising and music industry luminaries.

Wigmore’s music has already been licensed for use in TV shows, broadcast promos and ads. She released her debut US album “Gravel & Wine” in 2013, and songs from this album were heard on episodes of the ABC series “Grey’s Anatomy” and “666 Park Avenue,” on the CBS series “The Good Wife” and on the MTV series “Teen Wolf.”

Marian Hill, which is comprised of DJ/producer Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol, has already created several hit singles that evoke a sultry, sexy, blues and jazz-influenced sound.

For years DJ Prostyle has been one of Florida’s most influential taste makers on the hip-hop club scene. But his star began shining with a whole new light when he became the official DJ for BET’s “106 & Park” and started DJing for New York’s Power 105.1 radio station.  His Birthday Bash at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York featured live performances by Future, Ne-Yo, Wale and Chris Brown. The Queens native recently landed the #8 spot on The Source Magazine's 'Power 30' list and currently can be heard and seen as the Official DJ for ABC's “Good Morning America.” No wonder Prostyle is iHeart’s first-call DJ for events and parties.

Wigmore, Marian Hill and DJ Prostyle join a list of rising artists who’ve performed at the AMP Awards ceremonies. Island Records band American Authors and Capital Records artist Sky Ferreira took the City Winery stage at last year’s show, while Paloma Faith appeared at the inaugural AMP Awards event in 2013.

Tickets for the upcoming event have gone on sale and can be purchased here.

Google facing a new antitrust probe in Europe over content it uses for AI

Google faces fresh antitrust scrutiny from European Union regulators, who opened an investigation Tuesday into the company's use of online content for its artificial intelligence models and services. The latest regulatory flexing by Brussels risks antagonizing President Donald Trump's administration, though EU officials denied they were singling out American Big Tech companies. The European Commission, which is the 27-nation bloc's top antitrust enforcer, said it's examining whether Google has breached competition rules through its use of content from web publishers and material uploaded to YouTube for AI purposes. Regulators are concerned that Google has given itself an unfair advantage by using content for two search services, AI Overviews and AI Mode, without paying publishers and content creators or letting them opt out. AI Overviews are automatically generated summaries that appear at the top of its traditional search results, while AI Mode provides chatbot-style answers to search queries. They're also examining whether Google uses videos uploaded to YouTube under similar conditions to train its generative AI models, while shutting out rival AI model developers. Officials said they're seeking to determine whether Google gained an edge over AI rivals by imposing unfair terms and conditions, or giving itself privileged access to content. "This complaint risks stifling innovation in a market that is more competitive than ever," Google said in statement. "Europeans deserve to benefit from the latest technologies and we will continue to work closely with the news and creative industries as they transition to the AI era." The Commission, which is the bloc's executive arm, is carrying out the investigation under the EU's longstanding competition... Read More
