Sometimes, you just need a little outside advice when it comes life’s biggest questions–especially on how to save money. And coming soon, look no further than TV Dad–brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

Inspired by family sitcom-style comedy, Progressive and creative agency Arnold Worldwide are rolling out “TV Dad” creative beginning January 16. Starring one of TV’s most truly iconic dads, Reginald VelJohnson, as “the best pretend dad that you’ve never had.”

Along with a classic “sitcom” theme song opening, in a series of TV spots and social films, Progressive’s TV Dad will dish out the fatherly wisdom. Everything from love, family, and even his hot take on other topics. But the most important lesson of all? Drivers who switch to Progressive could save nearly $700 on average. So, listen to your TV Dad–he knows it all.

This "TV Dad" sitcom intro was directed by Tom Kuntz of MJZ.

Sean McBride, Arnold CCO, said, “This campaign is very aware of how competitive the insurance category is, and that the notion of switching insurance and saving money is something the audience has probably heard hundreds of times. To me, that context is what supercharges this concept–who is a voice that can cut through all the noise? Someone who, when this person speaks, everybody can’t help but lean in and listen? Enter TV Dad.

Top Spot of the Week: Apple, TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Director Olivia Wilde Take Us “Mac To School”

    Wednesday, May 14, 2025
    Apple's "Pointed"

Olivia Wilde directed a trio of “Mac to School” spots for Apple and agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Los Angeles, including this “Pointed” film in which a student laid out in his dorm room upper bunk bemoans the seemingly overwhelming task before him--having to make sense of voluminous biochemistry class notes and somehow distilling them down to their essence. However, a fellow student working from his lower bunk roost is able to do just that with relative ease, deploying Summarize in Writing Tools, powered by Apple Intelligence, on his MacBook Air. Key points from extensive class notes become readily accessible. Wilde, who's directed such features as Booksmart and Don't Worry Darling, helmed the Apple campaign via production house Anonymous Content. The spots were lensed by Oscar-winning (Mank) cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt.
