Director Craig Gillespie, Erich & Kallman Enter The “Situation Room” For Roomba

Roomba might make cleaning under the dining table look easy, but did you know the Roomba is actually making an incredible amount of decisions as it goes about its cleaning mission? From detecting and avoiding dog poop to suggesting specific cleaning zones and scheduled cleaning times, these unseen decisions result in wondrous interactions that make our lives in our home better.

In fact, Roomba is so serious about making the smartest, most thoughtful decisions for your home, they have a team of tiny engineers working together inside the device to decide the best course of action on the fly.

OK, that’s not actually true. But it’s the premise of iRobot’s new brand campaign, to explore how such smart decisions get made. Aptly titled “Situation Roomba,” the campaign from agency Erich & Kallman uses creative storytelling to highlight the thoughtful intelligence of its new operating system iRobot OS.

Included in this package of spots directed by Craig Gillespie of MJZ is this one in which a Roomba deftly avoids a dog pooptastrophe.

Eric Kallman, chief creative officer and co-founder, Erich and Kallman, said, “There’s a lot more going on inside a Roomba than people realize. Its super smart operating system makes millions of decisions and calculations and learns about you and adapts to your home. We wanted to demonstrate how thoughtful iRobot OS is with the most thoughtful thing we could think of: humans. The team of tiny engineers controlling Roomba from the inside is a good representation of the software’s capabilities, but it’s also fun and brings out the humanity of the iRobot brand.”

The Best Work You May Never See: Innocean Berlin, Stink Director Eoin Glaister Team On Stunt For NewMotion

    Tuesday, January 20, 2026
    NewMotion's "Stunt"

Ad agency Innocean Berlin has launched a full visual rebrand and platform for NewMotion, designed to bring more diverse talent behind the camera by giving German production companies a way to open their sets to new voices. The launch comes at a pivotal moment for the German film industry: In recent years, Germany has seen global acclaim for Oscar-nominated and award-winning productions like All Quiet on the Western Front and The Teacher’s Lounge. At this year’s Berlinale, the number of national and co-produced films reached an all-time high. Meanwhile, the federal government has committed to nearly doubling its production funding, now reaching €250 million ($291 million U.S.) But while international demand for German productions is growing, the industry still struggles with lack of diversity, limited access and an over-reliance on networks and connections. NewMotion was created to help change that. At the heart of the project is Germany’s largest online film industry database, a platform designed to connect production companies with aspiring crew members through on-set shadowing experiences, developed in collaboration with BuzzWoo. Covering more than 60 different behind-the-scenes roles, the online platform provides applicants with hands-on access to an industry that has often been difficult to break into. The platform provides users with real-time listings for shadowing, internships, and training opportunities. For those unsure where to start, there’s an AI-powered “Skillmatcher” tool, an interactive quiz that suggests suitable film professions based on users’ personal strengths and interests. An additional interactive film experience lets users explore a virtual film set and learn about various roles by clicking on... Read More
