The Freise Brothers (Nathan and Adam), a directorial duo at production house Biscuit Filmworks, teamed with Southern California-based homeless assistance agency PATH to create this :45 spot “Making It Home.” The commercial is airing now online as part of PATH’s efforts to raise awareness for its permanent housing developments and other services within the homeless community.
“Making It Home” features narration describing the emotional importance of a permanent home, and striking visual juxtapositions between gritty urban streets and warm, inviting houses. The Freise Brothers directed and shot the spot, in addition to handling all visual effects–they shot downtown L.A. streets desolate in the middle of the night, created each house using 3D modeling software, and composited the homes and streets together during postproduction.
PATH is a family of agencies working together to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. PATH does this by building housing and providing supportive services in 22 locations from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, Calif. Since 2013 PATH helped over 3,800 people make it home.
